About this job
Essential Functions of Diesel Fleet Mechanic:
Candidates will be working on heavy duty Class 8 Trucks/Tractors. They will be diagnosing and troubleshooting, welding and fabricating parts as necessary. Handling brake repairs, engine repairs etc.
*50% of their day is welding and fabrication (Arc, TIG, MIG, Aluminum)
*Diagnosing and Repairing Engines/ Air Brake Systems on Class 8 Trucks
*Inspect equipment; report mechanical issues and problems to shop management
*Perform Welding (either Stick or MIG) and Fabricate parts as necessary
*Diagnose and Repair Suspension/Hydraulic Systems on Class 8
*Ensure parts inventory is adequate to meet repair needs, or report as necessary
*Communicate effectively to ensure efficient repair and diesel fleet mechanic performance
2 Openings for second shift:
11:00am-9:30pm Mon-Fri although they are working 6-7 days per week right now
The qualified candidate MUST have the following:
*2 Years; Diagnosing and Repairing Engines/ Air Brake Systems on Class 8 Trucks
*2 Years; Previous experience Welding (either Stick or MIG) and Fabricating parts
*2 Years; Diagnosing and Repairing Suspension/Hydraulic Systems on Class 8 Trucks
*Experience with hydraulic repairs and diesel engine and electrical repairs
*Must possess basic mechanic tools as required to work on class 8 trucks (heavy duty)
*Strong heavy duty troubleshooting capabilities
*Valid driver's license
*Must meet the medical requirements specified by DOT/MOT, as applicable
*HS Degree or equivalent
Disqualifiers include:
*No Primary Truck Drivers who are also side mechanics
*No Truck Stop Mechanics
