About this job

This full-time Communications Technician 4 position is located in the Specialty Services (TETS) subgroup within the Engineering and Technical Services (TE) organization in the Transmission Services (T) business line. This position will install and troubleshoot electronics and communication circuits on the system, and provide support for the planning, scheduling, and implementation of capital construction projects, specifically communications projects involving digital radios, fiber optics equipment, network management systems, and all types of command and control communications circuits. In its role as a regional transmission provider, must interface with diverse and sometimes incompatible communications equipment. This position will provide support of capital program to enable the seamless integration of communications equipment and the command and control circuitry needed for the safe and reliable delivery of energy across the Northwest. The Communications Technician 4 will perform all duties under the assistance and initial guidance of senior level technicians, engineers and/or the manager. The position's official duty station will be Olympia, Washington. However, the position involves up to 95% travel to various field locations across the service area. Travel will be frequent and continuous over long periods of time.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: This position requires confidentiality, professionalism and requires passing a higher level background investigation, for which the selected candidate must qualify to hold or continue to hold the position.

This position is NOT open to Foreign National candidates.


* Approximately 95% travel to field locations is anticipated. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for all field travel (see below). Frequent local travel in the field requiring overnight stays is expected.
* Up to 5% overtime is anticipated
* Valid State Driver's License is required.
