POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Network Engineer is a member of the Network Group within the Infrastructure Team. The Senior Network Engineer has general responsibility under the direction of the Network Architect for overseeing the administration and operation of the company s extensive network infrastructure and the network operations center that supports the company s data and voice (VoIP) communications. The Senior Network Engineer delegates tasks as appropriate to non-senior Network Engineers and oversees the quality and completion of their work.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
-Equipment Configuration, Deployment, and Maintenance
- Monitoring, Testing and Reporting:
Ensure availability, dependability, recoverability and performance of network operations and systems in areas of responsibility and in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLA s).
Develop and maintain network topology, configuration, testing, operations, and training documents.
-Trouble Ticket Escalation:
Take lead and ownership for resolving all issues impacting function or performance of network systems.
-Data Security Management:
Maintain complex passwords for network equipment across the enterprise.
Ensure use of valid internal and public SSL certificates as required.
Employ use of data compression algorithms, encryption, and encapsulation standards and techniques to ensure reliable, efficient and secure transport of company data and voice telephony data
-Other Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in the planning and testing of periodic disaster recovery (DR) exercises and documentation gathering.
Serve as a mentor to non-senior Network Engineers.
Cross-train other Network Engineers in various functional areas to provide comprehensive NOC coverage

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Additional Environmental Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies: Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) mechanism, DMVPN, and GRE.
Switching protocols: VLAN, Spanning-tree, port channel, port and VLAN security.
Network access technologies including T1, T3, Metro Ethernet and broadband technologies such as DSL and cable modem.
Routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF.
OSI model and theory
TCP/IP
Fibre communications
Subnetting and mask schemes and classes
NAT s
Binary number system.
