Full-Time Cashier – Wauconda

Ace Hardware is currently seeking a full-time Cashier for Days and Weekends in our store in Waoconda, IL.

About the Position:

At Laskowski Ace, Cashiers represent the front line in making the customers shopping experience a pleasant one. The Cashier is accountable for processing all transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures. Cashier’s play a fundamental role in achieving customer satisfaction and revenue growth objectives. 

Responsibilities include:

• Engaging customers in every way; greet customers as soon as they are encountered
• Perform all steps in the checkout process including: scanning and bagging items at a rate that meets store requirements and processing accepted forms of payment

• Issue receipts, refunds or change due to customers
• Reconcile cash drawer daily
• Handle customer complaints with integrity and poise, and, when necessary, refer dissatisfied guests to the appropriate individuals for resolution
• Maintains high ethical standards in all actions
• Assist customers in the store as well as on the phone
• Working closely with other staff to ensure that the store remains clean, well maintained and organized; including dusting, sweeping and mopping
• Maintain awareness of promotions/advertisements in order to inform customers about special sales
• Occasionally price products and make price changes

Minimum

• Be at least 16 years old
• Ability to count accurate change to ensure no overages or shortages of money
• Ability to process transactions accurately and maintain an accurate cash drawer
• Experience using a computer
• Ability to multi-task using the register and answering the phone
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers and team members
• Have a proven track record of being a team player
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Clean and approachable appearance
• Positive attitude
• Passion for working with the public and helping customers
• Availability must be flexible to the needs of the business 
• Customer satisfaction-oriented
• Attention to detail and good mathematical skills

Preferred but, not required

• Experience in retail cashiering or sales
• Familiarity with electronic equipment (e.g. cash register, scanners, etc)
• Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues, assisting customers in locating product, greeting customers, answering phones and building relationships with customers
