Bindery / Folder / Inserter / Setup Mechanic / Specialist - Full-time – All Shifts Available

Quad/Graphics, a global leader in the commercial printing and direct marketing industry is seeking Bindery / Folder / Inserter / Setup Mechanic / Specialists to work in our rapidly expanding East Coast Digital Print and Commingling Supercenter in Westampton, NJ.

The Bindery / Folder / Inserter / Setup Mechanic / Specialists will perform all necessary activities to repair and perform preventative maintenance work on the production equipment in the plant (i.e. bindery, inserters and folders).  These duties include: electronic, mechanical and machine software. Will work closely with machine operators and production supervisors and assist in the startup, running and troubleshooting of production machines.  Positions are available on the following shifts:

2nd Shift:  3:00 P.M. – 11:00 P.M.

3rd Shift:  11:00 P.M. – 7:00 A.M.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Set up machines, or assist operators in set up:  trouble shooting operator problems. 

Train Workers in operating techniques and operator adjustments.

Observe and listen to operating machines and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine need for adjustment or repair.

Study sketches, machine specifications or parts to determine type and dimensions of parts needed.

Dismantle machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective parts.

Replace defective part with new part or repair or reproduce part needed.

Assemble and test machine to verify correction of malfunction.

Maintain and lubricate machine tools and equipment.

Repair or replace faulty wiring, switches, or relays.

Replace belts, suction cups, and hoses as required.

Establish and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all shop equipment.

Determine when outside technicians are needed to accomplish repairs, and advise management.

Perform work in an efficient, safe and productive manner.

To service machinery in order of priority.

Assist in department areas as needed to maximize productivity and/or quality.

Attend classes for additional technical training when requested by management.

Keep management informed as to the cooperation and efficiency of the crews on any machines that you service.

Communicate any service that will result in lengthy down time.

Communicate any foreseeable production problems (material or mechanical in nature).

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner.

1-3 years’ experience and/or training.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and technical manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, managers, and other employees.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

Strong Mechanical skills.

Experience with electrical and electronic repairs and diagnosis.

Ability to move about to inspect/repair machines including climbing, bending, and squatting in tight areas are also required.

Must have good flexion of hands and fine manipulation motor skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience are required.
