An Aerospace company in Philadelphia, PA is currently hiring a Aerospace Quality Assurance Manager.

This position will be the primary FAA Quality and Conformity liaison and team lead that will provide product development and manufacturing certification oversight for the AW609 experimental/certification program.

The manager provides direction and guidance to program quality and conformity personnel, subcontractors and suppliers providing necessary support for program goals.

The successful candidate will understand all aspects of certification and development quality processes associated with aircraft development and type certification, in particular the overall management of FAA Conformity Inspection planning and execution. Ability to support multiple functions (quality systems, conformity determinations, interface with supplier quality) and work with contracted multiple internal/external suppliers as required by the program.

Candidate must have a demonstrated track record working with the FAA and supporting Engineering teams in the Conformity Inspection Plan requirements planning and execution.

Managing FAA Conformity Team Leader as well as airworthiness designees (DAR/DMIR), maintaining the conformity and airworthiness status of experimental flight test articles, liaison activities with all other involved sites and colleagues and managing all aspects of the programs Conformity Inspection Plan (CIP) planning and execution.

Working together with the AW609 Certification Manager, AW609 Production Manager and Manufacturing sites and Suppliers, this position shall ensure coordination of the activities required to gain FAA approval for a Production Certificate. This position shall support the Quality related elements of the plan to obtain ODA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate activities related to an FAA approved Conformity Inspection Plans as required. Manage DAR/DMIR internal planning regarding conformity inspections on components/aircraft/test articles
  2. Ensure a robust quality system is implemented and maintained for the AW609 under management whilst adopting, where possible and practical, existing FHD quality system procedures
  3. Ensure required actions are in place internally and externally in relation to AW609 addition to Production Certificate
  4. Monitor processes and procedures that support experimental operations
  5. Liaising with the FAA in relation to experimental aircraft airworthiness certificates including issuing Program letters to the FAA for these and supporting the subsequent inspections by the FAA or their delegates
  6. Support the creation of an ODA system through procedures and documentation, approved by the FAA (together with the AW609 Certification Manager)
  7. Report to management on quality issues, trends and program goals.
  8. Manage a cross geography quality team
  9. Ensure AW609 quality system is correctly adopted through auditing
  10. Interface with supplier quality representatives as required concerning problems with quality control, conformity and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.

Qualifications for Position:

  • BS in Business, Engineering or related industry experience
  • Ten years of Quality experience in a management level capacity in the commercial aerospace industry, with a track record of delivering successful results.

  5. Practical experience with Six Sigma and/or Lean, experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Continuous Improvement and other Lean methodologies would be beneficial.
