SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Manager, performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, bathrooms, corridors, offices, operating suite, lobby areas, and other areas as assigned, by performing the following duties.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs a variety of cleaning duties and trash removal within area of assignment. Involves the movement of equipment, furniture, supplies and trash carts.
2. Performs general cleaning and trash removal in all departments. Empties designated common area recyclables containers. Cleaning includes wet mopping, washing floors, wall washing and other duties as necessary.
3. Dusts and cleans furniture, beds, window sills, file cabinets and other articles.
4. Washes and disinfects sinks, toilet bowls, etc. in bathrooms.
5. Replenishes paper, soap and linen supplies as necessary.
6. Removes soiled linen and trash from dirty utility rooms throughout the facility.
7. Removes bio hazardous waste from dirty utility rooms throughout the facility. Boxes and labels waste for shipment.
8. Cleans utility closets and equipment used daily.
9. Provides adequate and safe storage of equipment and supplies.
10. Following discharge of patient, aide is responsible for the change of bed linen and complete cleaning of patient area, bed, nightstand, etc.
11. After a delivery, aide cleans and disinfects the Birthing Room according to department policy and procedure.
12. Cleans and disinfects the Emergency Room area on request.
13. Exercises care and discretion in working near patients and at nursing station.
14. Reports any unusual conditions to the proper authority.
15. Follows prescribed safety and sanitary rules and hospital regulations.
16. Exercises care in posting or placing of signs when washing floors.
17. Assists in the training of new personnel as directed.
18. Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities.
19. Adheres to a Code of Conduct, as set forth by Memorial Hospital, which fosters compliance with Federal and State laws and promotes avoidance of activities that may be inconsistent with Federal and State laws.
