Specialty Pharmacy Fulfillment Technician
Mission
To provide affordable specialty pharmacy services of the highest quality, along with patient-centered clinical management and auxiliary services that deliver optimal patient outcomes. We help patients and providers navigate the complex therapy challenges that are usually associated with chronic conditions. We simplify the process of providing specialty medications.
Objective
The specialty pharmacy technician is the first contact primarily for both referral sources and patients with our pharmacy. As such, the technician should strive to build relationships with these customers to increase satisfaction, compliance, and referrals.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two or more years related pharmacy experience preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:
State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician License required
Language Ability:
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Write routine reports and correspondence.
Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability:
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to look at problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Environment:
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of the normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Technician Duties
Primarily responsible for assisting specialty processes through to completion
Process labeling and preparation of specialty orders (under the supervision of state licensed pharmacist )
oProduct selection based off GPI and on-hand inventory quantities
oLabeling of medication bottles
oLabeling medication with compliance packaging materials
oProvide auxiliary patient information materials including, but not limited to counseling notes, drug monographs, welcome packets, receipts, etc.
Package specialty orders based off validated shipping methods
Prepare orders according to delivery method
oCoordinate patient delivery with couriers
oPrepare and track shipping labels for USPS, UPS, FEDEX and others
Manage & properly control inventory
oComply with DSCSA and FDA regulations
oEnsure inventory is stored properly
oPull out-of-dates
oProcess wholesaler medication returns
oProcess reverse distributor returns of expired/damaged medications
Be aware of changing AWP/Costs to ensure optimum reimbursement is obtained
Comply with FDA mandates and self-imposed manufacturer restrictions by reporting to a pharmacist with any dispensing questions or safe handling instructions. Utilizing MSDS or the FDA website for safe handling/dispensing guidelines and wholesaler and/or manufacturer instructions when ordering new inventory.
Be familiar with FDA mandates and proper recall policies and procedures
Ensure accreditation standards/objectives are being followed
Be knowledgeable of our services and be able to help educate staff/referral source
Be familiar with REMS specialty therapies and their requirements
Work with marketing staff to identify & correct opportunities with referral sources
Communicate with office/marketing staff about clinics preferably through email
