Position: Unemployment State Consultant
Location: Garden City, NY
Pay: 15/hr
Length: 3+ months

Summary: The USC works with clients and state agencies to respond to unemployment compensation claims on behalf of clients. This position provides technical guidance to internal and external clients regarding the unemployment process. Phone, facsimile, and email contact is extensive

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Recognition of various state unemployment forms and data entry of appropriate information into proprietary system.
An understanding of the unemployment process
Excellent customer service to our clients and state agencies.
Attend work on a regular basis, including the occasional need to work more than 40 hours per week.
Perform job functions in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Any special projects and miscellaneous duties assigned by a member of management.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:
Strong customer service skills
Excellent time management skills
Ability to listen, comprehend and actively participate in telephone and in person conversations
Clear, pleasant speaking voice
Ability to read and summarize information
Ability to use the keyboard to input, access, view and interpret data on a PC
Ability to evaluate information to make independent decisions.
Ability to interact with people
Ability to listen and comprehend in person and telephone conversations
Professional behavior and attire
Ability to make decisions and work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Minimum Education and/or Experience:
Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous office experience with a strong emphasis on customer service
Experience in dealing with dated materials, strict time limits and/or working in a fast-paced environment

Computer Skills Required:
Understanding of PC functions, including Windows-based applications
