A successful Head of Brand Marketing will have the following:

  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership skills and ability to lead teams, communicate to senior executives, and influence and collaborate across various functional groups including operations, sales, distribution, marketing, finance, programming and legal.  Strong interpersonal skills that encourage team partnership, promote enthusiasm and foster strategic thinking
  • Strategy and Business Leadership:  Proven track record of developing and executing strategy, coupled with multiple examples of delivering strong business results with creative problem-solving skills
  • Marketing: Strong record of developing integrated marketing campaigns across various marketing touchpoints and distribution channels; experience in Direct Marketing or subscription style businesses is desired
  • Media: Detailed knowledge of developing and executing media strategies (brand, hybrid, direct response) to achieve business objectives, expertise with all off-line media (especially TV and Radio), media testing development and implementation of media plans, and significant experience with leveraging various internal and external data sources to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of media plans and optimize spend.  Experience managing large media budgets across tactics
  • Agency Management: Significant experience working with external agency partners (Creative and Media) to create advertising, communications and media plans, including strategy, targeting, copy, and marketing performance measurement
  • Agility and Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment with a high capacity to multi-task and handle tight deadlines and competing priorities on a daily basis
  • Financial and Analytical Acumen: Strong ability to assess disparate data streams and distill them into actionable strategic recommendations.  Utilize quantitative and qualitative information to drive insights for different business units. Understand how to build and monitor the dashboards, KPIs and reporting structure.  Deliver all associated financial analysis for brand development initiatives
  • Team Development: Demonstrated success leading and building high-performing teams through recruiting, coaching and training
  • Communication Skills: Strong presentation, verbal and written skills in English is required.  Proficiency in one or more foreign languages is highly desired
  • Education and Experience: MBA strongly preferred with 12-15+ years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

The Brand Marketing team drives the overall marketing strategy for DISH, key events and all partner brands. The team develops comprehensive, cross-platform marketing plans that define the message, continually reconfirm our credibility, create emotional connections for our customers and prospects, motivate buyers and establish brand loyalty.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Brand Marketing:

  • Lead and execute strategic initiatives across product, pricing, promotional strategy, and technology to drive business growth.  Work closely with agencies and partners to ensure that innovative, insight-based campaigns are at the heart of all Offline and Digital channel mix efforts, and utilize the marketing budget to allocate funds across offline awareness and consideration tactics to positively impact brand metrics, and ultimately, drive new subscriber growth
  • Lead development of messaging strategy and all communications planning (including directly managing development of all TV and radio creative) for the DISH brand
  • Partner with other teams in Marketing (Direct Response, Partner Marketing, Digital and Social, Retention, etc.) to provide strategic guidance on brand strategy and ensure campaigns are aligned with brand guidelines (voice, tone and persona etc.)

Media

  • Provide leadership to the Brand Media team by determining media objectives, strategies and tactics designed to acquire new customers and improve brand metrics.
  • Lead strategic thinking on development and execution of new media innovation strategies and plans to account for changes in consumer viewership and media consumption trends. Identify strategic approach to leverage mix of national and local media buys to align with driving growth with the target audience.  
  • Provide support to Media team in the management of the media planning agency, including managing deliverables, scope of work, and performance review. Maintain and manage working relationships with additional media vendor partners and suppliers.
