CARE GIVER - ASSISTED LIVING

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking the kind and caring individuals who take pride in lifting the spirits of those they care for.  Our Care Giver position is here to assist assigned residents with their activities of daily living in accordance with the resident’s needs and services plan and/or established expectations for assistance. We are in the beautiful and amazing San Francisco and we want our staff and residents to live their BEST life!

SALARY:

The hourly rate for the Care Giver position is $15.00/hr which includes EXCELLENT Benefits!!

REPORTS TO:  
Charge Nurse, Assisted Living Director

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CARE GIVER - ASSISTED LIVING
1.    Greets new residents and orients them to their room, and ensures they are comfortable.
2.    Transports residents within the Community as needed.
3.    Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, positive emphasis and calmness.
4.    Participates in and receives daily change of shift and clinical reports.
5.    Assists in keeping resident apartment clean and orderly.
6.    Collects specimens (ie, urine, sputum, stools, etc.) as instructed.
7.    Assists residents in preparing for activities and social programs, appointments and daily meals.
8.    Encourages socialization among residents.
9.    Assists residents with activities of daily living, including, but not limited to oral care, toileting, dressing/undressing, hair care, nail care, shaving, etc.
10.    Assists residents with oxygen, ostomies and other medical treatments as necessary and appropriate.
11.    Assists with lifting, turning, moving, positioning and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, wheelchairs, etc. as needed and using proper body mechanics.
12.    Measures and records temperatures, pulse and other vital signs as required.
13.    Assists with the care of the dying patient; provides post-mortem care as instructed.
14.    Reports the presence of pressure areas, skin breakdowns, skin tears and all injuries of an unknown source.  
15.    Reports any known or suspected falls by residents to Charge Nurse.
16.    Serves food trays and snacks in resident rooms, if necessary and appropriate.
17.    Provide on-on-one support/visitation to assigned residents on a weekly basis or as requested by supervisor or as specified in the assistance plan.
18.    Monitor health, safety, and well-being of residents.
19.    Respond to resident emergencies; provide first-aid assistance and arrange for appropriate medical attention and follow up.
20.    Informs Charge Nurse of changes in the resident’s condition.
21.    Attends and participates in in-services and training including 8 hours of Dementia training annually.
22.    Other duties and responsibilities related as assigned by Charge Nurse or Assisted Living Director.
