The Senior Accountant performs advanced accounting functions including the preparation, analysis, and review of general ledger accounts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares and approves journal entries and month-end close work papers in accordance with GAAP and company policies/procedures for areas including cash, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, intercompany and other miscellaneous asset and liability accounts
  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures to maintain fiscal discipline and a favorable internal control environment
  • Assists with preparing monthly financial statement, statistical, and management reports
  • Assists with month-end closing processes and balancing of various systems
  • Prepares year-end audit schedules and supporting schedules as needed for quarterly tax estimates
  • Serves as liaison to location managers and assists them with accounting related issues
  • Establishes and maintains proper control over capital project spending and management of fixed asset accounting including asset additions, CIP and disposals, and preparation of fixed asset roll forward schedules
  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations, researches and clears reconciling differences
  • Performs special projects for management as necessary
  • Ensures compliance with Sarbanes Oxley

  • Maintains a clean, neat work environment
  • Completes all tasks in a timely manner as instructed by the Controller
  • Cooperates with senior management and coworkers to ensure that services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of internal and external customers

  • Interfaces with management and technology support personnel on accounting applications
  • Identifies current or potential problems with reports, analyzes the impact to financial data, and proposes solutions

  • Reports all accidents and incidents to the Controller immediately
  • Uses only equipment trained to use and operates all equipment in a safe manner
  • Reports all potential high risk areas and safety concerns to the Controller

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment adhering to strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and the ability to apply general accounting theory to day to day processes
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving ability
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and various accounting technology applications
  • Written and verbal communication skills to effectively address all levels within the organization
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in dealing with matters of significance for the company
  • Ability to represent the company effectively in a variety of settings with a demonstrated understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business policies, procedures, equipment manuals, training materials, and corporate communications
  • Ability to compose professional internal and external business communications including reports, memos, letters, and e-mails

    QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred; and three to five (3-5) years of related experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
