How do I make a difference?


Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Customer Service

  • Proactively approach customers, slice, weigh and package a variety of items as requested, and answer any questions about products or service offered
  • Slice a variety of meats and cheeses throughout the day to maintain product levels on wafer trays and ensure the most efficient customer service at the counter
  • Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients

    • Work with team members to maintain the overall appearance of the department, ensure cases are well-merchandised, properly signed, and stocked with supplies to complete tasks efficiently
    • Unload and break down deliveries, stock cases and coolers; refill to meet customer needs while rotating for freshness
    • Follow Wegmans core recipes and job aides when preparing all products for use in the Prepared Foods department, ensure a consistent outcome in line with Wegmans standards of quality
    • Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines, and Simplification 5S procedures

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Customer Service experience, preferably in a food service industry, grocery or retail setting
  • Experience working in a deli and/or using a deli slicer

 

Work Environment

  • Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-works in a fast-paced environment
  • Typical motions include repetitive grasping, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 5-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 35 pounds occasionally
  • Work involves exposure to various work environments, including cold temperature
  • May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
  • Will spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours
