POSITION PURPOSE
Works as part of a group that supports strategic development of THD's current and potential business activities. Works directly with THD business leadership to evaluate business performance, formulate strategy, identify organic and inorganic growth opportunities and execute development transactions (M&A, strategic alliances).
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
40% Strategy formulation for THD and its business untis, particularly with respect to growth.
20% Pipeline development, in the form of relationship management with potential M&A targets or in the form of growth initiative generation and management.
20% Management of project teams.
10% Deal structuring and negotiation.
10% Leadership of competitive and market intelligence.
NATURE AND SCOPE
VP of Strategic Business Development
No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 7 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree highly desirable; MBA preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Ability to assimilate extensive amounts of detailed data to see the big picture, analyze, and summarize vast amounts of information as well as understand all the detail supporting the analysis.
Project management, leadership and solid ability to problem solve creatively.
Solid organizational skills, analytical ability to work with processes, numbers and statistics.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Typically determines what should be done in a functional area or business unit within the broad policies and principles or very general goals.
