In this role, as part of the Automation team, the Lead Automation Engineer – IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) will be instrumental in the design and development of the next generation Supply Chain Automation for Target. This role will play a lead role in the successful deployment and launch of automation supply chain technologies and processes. This individual must have exceptional software development and problem solving skills, strong business judgment, and demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams. The position will lead the strategy and implementation of automation integration and interfaces related to Data Collection, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and machine to machine communication, among others. This individual must be capable of defining the requirements and specifications, as well as driving the development, validation and launch of complex automated solutions at scale with minimum supervision. The targeted solutions will involve a variety of automation systems including robotics, sortation and conveyance, controls systems, vision systems, sensing technologies, and process development and optimization. Target is looking for an individual that is a self-starter who can work independently and provide a level of creative and innovative thinking that is essential to the supply chain design process. This position will be based in Sunnyvale, California and will report to the Director of Automation Engineering organization.
 
About you:

• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 6+ years of experience in manufacturing, distribution and/or logistics experience desirable
• Deep experience with factory automation, software implementation, instrumentation and data acquisition analysis in a high volume operation
• Experience with Controls Systems Architecture (PLC, PC Based) in material handling equipment, industrial robotic solutions, mobile robots technology and/or other relevant technical field.
• PLC / PC Based programming languages experience.
• Hands on experience defining and developing IIoT, Industry 4.0 Cloud Base strategies related to capital equipment development including data collection, analytics, machine learning, statistical analysis, etc.
• Knowledge of dynamic server coding environments such as Python, Ruby, or Node JS
• Working knowledge of HTTP, HTML5, JavaScript, JSON, etc.
• Concept development, prototype testing, engineering design, and collaboration with 3rd parties on controls solution system build and integration testing
• Experience defining, developing, validating and deploying of multi-million dollar, complex capital equipment systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple ambiguous projects at the same time with a moderate degree of variation and uncertainty.
• Experience developing improvement initiatives, creating roll-out strategies, & deploying them across an enterprise scale organization
• Ability to travel to interact with internal and external business and technical partners
