PrideStaff is currently working with a stable printing facility in Fenton, MO to locate an ambitious and hard-working APPENTICE Print Press Machine Operator to work in a full time, 2nd shift, position with OT every other week.
Hours: 2nd shift
12-hour shifts (2 week work cycles)
1st week: Monday - Tuesday 7:00pm-7:00am
Wednesday - Thursday Off
Friday - Sunday 7:00pm-7:00am
2nd week: Monday - Tuesday Off
Wednesday - Thursday 7:00pm-7:00am
Friday - Sunday Off
Job Description:
- Responsible for assisting with the operation and tending printing presses
- Carefully monitor machine gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
- Perform traditional printing methods such as offset lithography, gravure, flexography and letterpress
- Adjust the flow of ink to the inking rollers accordingly
- Guide paper through press cylinders and adjust feed and tension controls.
- Monitor their operation and keep the paper feeders well stocked
- Make adjustments to manage ink distribution, speed, and temperature in the drying chamber
- Oil and clean the presses and make minor repairs as needed
- Collect and inspect random samples during print runs to identify any necessary adjustments
- Examine job orders to determine quantities to be printed, stock specifications, colors or special printing instructions
- Verify that paper and ink meet the specifications for a given job
- Start presses and pull proofs to check for ink coverage and density, alignment and registration
- Assist with the changing of press plates, blankets, or cylinders, as required
- Conduct consistent quality control reviews of printed product to verify accuracy as compared to template
Job Requirements:
- Previous machine operation experience
- Must have strong mechanical skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- "Fix" vs. "Replace" mentality
- Ability to push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to stand up to 8-10 hours a day
- Must have consistent and reliable means of transportation
- Must be willing to submit to a background check and drug screen
- Must provide 2 work references (no personal references please)
