Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Manager/CI Facilitator Hauppauge-NY-US Under limited supervision, assists the IES SHE Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental, health and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with all applicable federal (EPA, OSHA, DOT, NRC), state and local environmental, health and safety regulations and applicable Cobham SHE Management Standards at the Hauppauge, NY facility. Develops and conducts training in emergency response, hazard communication, noise, hazardous materials training, industrial hygiene, radiation, life safety and other applicable topics. Recommends and implements corrective action where environmental, health and safety hazards exist. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES •Assists the IES SHE Manager in planning and managing the environmental, health and safety programs. •Recognizes, evaluates, recommends and implements policies, procedures and actions to assure awareness of and compliance with all applicable SHE regulations and requirements of the organization. •Assists in reviewing SHE standards promulgated by regulatory authorities. •Leads audits of SHE programs to identify and control significant loss producing exposure. •Provides necessary reports to company management. •Keeps informed on all existing and proposed changes in occupational health and safety and environmental regulations. •Develops and provides appropriate SHE training to employees. Also, conducts training in emergency response, hazard communication, noise, hazardous materials training, industrial hygiene, radiation, life safety and other applicable topics. •Assists in development, training and on-going requirements of Emergency Response Team (ERT) and SHE Committee and SHE Oversite Team. •Orders and maintains inventory of medical, safety, and ERT related equipment/supplies for company locations. •Promotes communications programs to enhance and encourage employee awareness of accident and fire prevention, industrial hygiene, chemical handling and environmental compliance and other programs, such as HAZWOPER, noise and radiation. •Plans, leads and provides development assistance for personnel inside/outside the SHE function. •Other overall responsibilities may include, as appropriate, contributing to the development and maintenance of budgets, cost controls, process/capital improvement, setting expectations and priorities, allocating resources and negotiating. •May handle hazardous waste. •Requires excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Maintaining confidentiality is a must. Must have demonstrated the ability to manage multiple projects of varied priority. •Maintains on-going coordination with Facilities, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Materials and others to ensure compliance with SHE requirements •Maintains liaison with regulatory groups, first responders, community groups and contractors including, New York State Government, OSHA, EPA, local fire departments. •Responsible for updating SDS's. •Weekly inspections of hazardous waste areas, including disposing of hazardous waste. Set up lab packs of spent chemicals as required. Conducts daily, weekly, monthly checks of different areas within facility. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES •Teaches Adult CPR with AED and Standard First Aid to the ERT and other employees as needed. •Makes presentations to employees and other groups on SHE topics. •Leading all phases of continuous improvement projects using formal methodologies including DMAIC, PDCA, DMADV, Kaizen events and RCCA (root cause corrective action) •Capturing, qualifying and prioritizing the impact of continuous improvement ideas •Translating strategic objectives into operational plans •Teaching, mentoring, and coaching others in the organization in the topics of continuous improvement and elimination of waste •Engaging with individuals throughout the organization, including manufacturing personnel, engineers, executives, and professional staff to drive continuous improvement activities MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor degree or equivalent experience and a working knowledge of general environmental, health and safety is required. Additionally, 3-5 years of related experience and/or training is required. Experience in manufacturing environment a must. Must be PC literate, knowledgeable of applicable software programs, such as Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, etc.). Preferred Qualifications • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is desired. • Experience in working within an Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) is a benefit.
