Urology APRN/PA – Adult AND Pediatric Positions Available ADULT UROLOGY: Apply to Req #61821 at www.ynhhs.org/careers JOB DESCRIPTION Assumes primary patient care responsibility for patients in a specific program under the supervision of the Attendings. Identifies learning needs of team members, patients and families. Provides bedside teaching and supervision of procedures. May support the research mission through collaboration with investigators and protocol personnel. HOURS Full time, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Master's Degree as a Physician's Assistant (PA) or MSN degree required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS At least 2 years experience as a PA in Oncology. Relevant medical/surgical experience will be considered as a substitute for Oncology experience. LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Licensed Physician's Assistant in the State of CT (or eligible) PEDIATRIC UROLOGY: Apply to Req #2017-12437 at www.ynhhs.org/careers JOB DESCRIPTION Admit patients. Perform and document a complete history and physical examination. Enter appropriate information and orders into the CPOE system. Order and obtain necessary diagnostic tests including imaging studies and laboratory tests. Follow through on interpretation of results and communicate with team/attending physician. Request consultations from other services, and provide appropriate work up and follow through on recommendations, including communication to primary team. Participate in daily rounds on primary patients and consults when appropriate. Assist with implementing management plan as supervised by attending physician and in collaboration with team. Enter, review and update orders to include: rehabilitation services (physical, speech and occupational therapy), IV therapy and inpatient medications (except for chemotherapy and Schedule 1 controlled substances), restraints, discharge orders. Perform procedures of core privileges, e.g. wound debridement and dressing changes, suturing and suture removal, minor burn care, arterial punctures, gastic lavage, I & D superficial abscesses, nasogastric tube placement, G tube replacement, administer local anesthesia Assist in the operating room and perform bedside procedures (as privileged to do so and only after departmental competencies are met). Write discharge prescriptions within scope of practice and confines of statute. Provide specialty specific education to patients and families to include perioperative expectations, treatment plans, and discharge care. Communicates treatment plans to referring physicians, primary care physicians, care coordinators, social workers and health care agencies as appropriate and within confines of patient confidentiality/PHI laws. HOURS Full time, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS PA degree or MSN required. Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Acute Care Nurse Practitioner track is preferred.
