Assistant Manager - Fabrication - Full-time / Part-time

Messina Group seeks an Assistant Manager – Fabrication.
 
Working in the Metal Forming Department, this individual is required to possess strategic vision along with solid tactical skills.  The manager will also be required to author and maintain A3’s, action plans, and score cards on strategic priorities and Lean Performance System initiatives, report out on those priorities, and enact countermeasures when targets are missed. In addition, the manager must have solid problem-solving skills, be able to give constant attention to detail, desire for accountability, and have excellent communication and organizational skills. This role reports to the Sr. Manager-Production Operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Promoting safety awareness, TPM and housekeeping, and investigating and reporting on safety incidents.
• Setting and maintaining high levels of product quality.
• Conducting team-building meetings to promote continuous improvement principals.
• Maintaining a high level of on-time shipments to both internal and external customers.
• Performing planning functions to ensure the timely availability of staffing and materials.
• Creating and/or maintaining meaningful visuals such as KPI boards.
• Coaching and mentoring direct reports in Problem Solving and other LPS/CI activities.
• Conducting performance appraisals.
• Making decisions regarding hires, promotions, corrective action, and terminations.
• Identifying training and skill development to meet departmental needs.
• Direct responsibility for 1st shift Punch Press, Shear, Welding and Saw operations of department.
• Cross Departmental coordination efforts to initiate, follow through with, and bring to realization, the strategies, methods, and goals for department. 
• Serve as a change agent by influencing, communicating and institutionalizing a culture of simplification, standard work, process improvement and lean principles.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum four-year college degree in a technical discipline or commensurate experience.
• Minimum of five years of production supervisory experience in high and low volume environments where multiple shifts of operation were in play.
• Demonstrated track record of lean manufacturing leadership, sustained improvements, and KPI attainment.
• A history of team member development for upward mobility.
• 4 – 5 years relevant work experience.
