JOB SUMMARY

The Store Manager is responsible for leading and directing the activities of assigned retail store to ensure maximum revenues, effectiveness and profitability. The Store Manager is accountable for customer satisfaction and employee morale. This position supervises the Associate and/or Assistant Store Manager, Store Supervisors, Janitor/Clerks, Clerk/Processors, program participants, volunteers and Donation Attendants. This position reports to a District Sales Manager or Director – Retail Sales.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Direct and monitor store operations to drive revenue growth and ensure monthly sales, payroll and production budgets are met. Ensure operating expenses do not exceed budget. Develop and execute action plans to correct deficiencies in achievement of budgeted outcomes.
  • Select, train, coach and schedule personnel (employees, program participants and volunteers) to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Administer disciplinary action, as needed, in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate and promote superior customer service. Leads by example and expects the highest level of customer service from all employees, volunteers and program participants. Handles customer/donor complaints in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Ensure a safe working and shopping environment. Monitor safe operation of agency property and equipment. Instruct safety training and instill proper safety attitudes within store. Responsible for timely accident reporting and adherence to the Agency’s safety program, OSHA and IIPP compliance.
  • Responsible for accurately handling donated assets and monies involved in store operations, including daily register balancing, banking and change.
  • Execute and monitor all phases of store operations to ensure compliance with established material handling and processing practices.
  • Responsible for training and monitoring daily use of POS and WMS systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for training and monitoring safe operations of warehouse and processing equipment including pallet jacks and power lifts.
  • Responsible for executing and monitoring point-of-donation customer service to drive increased donations.
  • Execute and monitor plans to drive store revenues and achieve budgeted profit margins.
  • Responsible for maintaining rotation of merchandise/pull schedule by a trained member of the store team.
  • Responsible for handling New Goods product including but not limited to: cycle counts and inventory counts, receipt and handling of product.
  • Responsible for achieving daily production goals, ensuring a trained member of the store management/leadership team has checked all merchandise against agency quality standards prior to sending to the sales floor.
  • Responsible for timely submission/updating of all required reports including, transportation needs, labor planner and personnel-related forms.
  • Coach and train all team members in accordance with Goodwill’s retail practices, ensuring the mission and values of Goodwill are maintained.
  • Support the agency’s Workforce Development and volunteer programs in accordance with Goodwill’s mission.
  • Regular attendance is required in order to perform the essential functions of the job.

SECONDARY DUTIES

Assist with special projects and related retail assignments as assigned by the District Sales Manager and/or Director of Retail Sales.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Required: Accredited Associate’s degree or equivalent. Experience may be substituted for education on a two -years to one-year basis.

Experience Required: Five (5) years management level experience in retail sales or a related environment, including a minimum of two (2) years experience interviewing/hiring of entry-level positions and conducting employee performance management including separations.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge Required: Knowledge of general retail principles; techniques and principles of supervision and management, including interviewing, disciplinary actions and separations for cause; cash handling and banking procedures; customer service practices; and knowledge of safety and security in a retail sales setting.

GISJV operates 17 retail stores, two bulk-sale facilities and a division dedicated to providing jobs for people with disabilities (Goodwill Service Connection).
