Job Summary
AECOM has an immediate opening for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead at Ft. Polk, LA.
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead maintains, diagnoses and repairs gasoline or diesel engine powered, self-propelled, skid-mounted, and towed engineer construction equipment including accessories and allied equipment used in earth moving, grading, excavation, logging, clearing, landing operations, and cable way and tramway operations.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform the following activities under limited indirect supervision in accordance with established military procedures and regulation:
- Supervise and assist as needed 4 or more Heavy Equipment mechanics in analyze malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools.
- Responsible for the prioritizing and scheduling of work request in the shop.
- May act as Heavy Equipment QA/QC inspector.
- Responsible for completion, and submission of all required maintenance paperwork and reports
Other Responsibilities:

Minimum Requirements

Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident
-
Should have experience in the Army 62B/91L Series MOS or equivalent or have completed an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 5-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area, and have 1-3 years experience as a Mechanic lead or supervisor.

Have excellent communication and people skills. Candidate must possess skills in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word. Experience with the preparation of documents necessary for vehicle, and engine maintenance reporting.

Must also pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
