Position: Operations Manager

Status: Full-time/Exempt

Hours: 40 hours per week

The Marin City Community Development Corporation (MCCDC) has over 39 years of expertise providing job training and referral, youth development, housing programs, and other asset building services. SUMMARY

Reports directly to the HR/Operations Director and Executive Director. Manage overall operations and is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control and safety measures as established and set for the Administrations Department. Ensure safe and efficient operations. Assists the HR/Operations Director in representing on regulatory issues. Assist to enhance the operational procedure, systems and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting and looks for opportunities to expand systems. Working with the Management Team, the position contributes to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES BY FUNCTION:

Financial Management

  • Direct and coordinate implementation of annual budgeting and planning process for the organization's annual budget with Executive Director.
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of organization's financial performance against budget, financial and operational goals with agency accountant, HR/Operations Director and Executive Director.
  • Oversee short and long-term financial and managerial reporting with agency accountant, HR/Operations Director and Executive Director.
  • Coordinate and support reconciliation of monthly activity, generating year-end reports, and fulfilling tax related requirements with agency accountant and Executive Director.
  • Assist Executive Director and Board of Directors in creating annual organizational budget and monitoring cash flow.
  • Maintain archival and administrative files accurately.
  • Ensure that Accounting Department requests are resolved and communicated in a timely manner to internal and external parties.
  • Assist Executive Director develop long-range forecasts and maintain long-range financial plans.
  • Assist to develop, maintain and monitor all fundraising and accounting systems and procedures capturing all pledges, billings and receipts and for the recording of all revenue transactions, recommend and implement improvements to systems.

 

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Assist the HR/Operations Director manage all agency operational functions.
  • Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of MCCDC Support Services through improvements to each function (HR, IT, Program and Finance) as well as coordination and communication between functions.
  • Provide consulting services on matters related to fundraising, tax and insurance questions, and business structure and growth.

 

Organizational Leadership

  • The Operations Manager is a valuable team member of the MCCDC Management Team that typically provides inspiration, objectives, operational oversight, and other administrative services to the organization.
  • Effective organizational leadership can help prioritize objectives for MCCDC Team Members and can provide guidance toward achieving the overall corporate vision.
  • Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the Management Team.

 

Risk Management

  • Work with the HR/Operations Director and Executive Director to support legal counsel in addressing legal issues.
  • Assist the Executive Director to communicate with safety department to ensure all processes remain compliant with OSHA and other governmental regulations.
  • Assist the Executive Director to oversee organizational insurance policies.
  • Adhere to the CARF Accreditation policies and procedures.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

 

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

 

REQUIREMENTS: (Education/Training and Experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Commitment to social justice and the MCCDC’s mission.
  • Bachelors’ degree in Management or Business Administration preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in Management or Business Administration, or at least 3 years’ experience in Financial Management required.
  • Strong background and work experience in Finance.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Three (3) plus years’ experience in bookkeeping.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • Budget development and oversight experience.
  • Demonstrates commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
  • Knowledge of tax and other compliance implications of non-profit status.
  • Excels at operating in and fast pace, community environment; self-starter.
  • Excellent people supervisor, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done.

  • A valid state driver’s license, a positive driving record and proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage are required to be maintained at all times for this position.
  • Must pass a TB and Drug Test.
  • Must pass a Background, Criminal, Employment and Reference Check.

SALARY RANGE:
