POSITION SUMMARY:
To accurately and efficiently perform general accounting procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
- Inputs all cash receipts and applies to general ledger according to department identification number and account number.
- Inputs all investment checks and credited investment clearing account and investment exchange accounts.
- Opens the daily mail and separates the check receipts; rental, royalties, donations, collections and investment pool checks.
- Copies checks with no attached document for cash application.
- Prepares bank deposit slips for all checks received and reviews deposit slips from various departments.
- Segregates checks and cash deposits as required by the bank.
- Prepares bank deposits.
- Maintains House of Prayer deposits
- Handles petty cash for the department.
- Assist Parishes and Schools with updating bank signature account cards
- Assist Parishes and Schools with bank to bank changes
- Provides secretarial support staff for the Financial Services Department
- Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:
- Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community. (preferred)
- High School Diploma
- Two years’ experience in bookkeeping or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of bookkeeping and accounting.
- Modem office methods and procedures.
- PC and programs including Microsoft programs.
Skill in:
- Analyzing accounts.
- Bookkeeping procedures.
- Financial report preparation.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively in written and oral form.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.
- Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking.
- Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
