Advance Auto Parts-AAP is looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect to join their Enterprise Architecture organization in either Roanoke, VA or Raleigh, NC. This team is responsible for all elements of Architecture from defining the overall enterprise architecture to its ongoing governance with the goal of ensuring the IT function operates as effectively and efficiently as possible. This organization has a direct impact on Advance Auto Parts' ability to introduce business capabilities at a pace that enables Advance Auto Part's Mission of having a "Passion for Customers. Passion for Yes".
The Senior Enterprise Architect is responsible for IT technical strategy, advising IT leadership on technical strategy, overseeing actions of the Enterprise Architecture organization, and ensures the alignment of the organization's mission, strategy, and processes to the IT strategy.
Other essential duties and responsibilities include but aren't limited to:
- Define and lead the Enterprise Architecture practice for Advance Auto Parts
- Lead the creation and maintenance of the IT Capability Roadmap
- Coach and mentor the team of Architects who are responsible for executing the Enterprise Architecture practice
- Responsible for leading the Solution Architecture of the most complex, multi-domain projects or programs
- Oversee and Manage the AAP Enterprise Architecture Engagement Process
- Oversee the execution of Design Reviews for IT projects under design
- Oversee the execution of Code Reviews for IT projects under implementation
- Maintain the EA roadmap which defines the IT strategy for technology implementation and retirement
- Participate with the PMO in leading IT Process Improvement

- Ability to inspire and lead a diverse team of Architects
- Conflict resolution and consensus building skills
- Ability to lead logical discussions to evaluate different options
- Ability to effectively make a decision when consensus cannot be achieved, and must be able to communicate to the dissenting architects the reasons for the decision to maintain unity within the EA organization
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability evaluate requirements against technologies and design patterns to produce appropriate Solution Designs
- Ability to evaluate new technologies and design patterns for adoption into the Enterprise Architecture set of standards
Job Requirements Required Skills & Experiences:
- Working knowledge in the following disciplines:
- Multi-tier Enterprise Application Development
- Middleware Capabilities
- Relational Database Design and Integration
- Object Relational Mapping

Business Rules Management Systems, Business Process Management Systems, Server and Storage Infrastructure, or Distributed Networking
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Solution Development Lifecycle
- Knowledge of Application Design Principles: Design Patterns for Enterprise Application Development (GoF), Service Oriented Architecture, or Enterprise Application Integration
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science; and 5-10 related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
