Advance Auto Parts, Inc., a leading automotive aftermarket parts provider in North America, serves both the professional installer and do-it-yourself customers. Advance operates approximately 5,100 stores, 126 Worldpac branches and serves approximately 1,300 independently owned CARQUEST branded stores in the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada.

We are currently looking for a 2nd (second) Shift Distribution Center-DC Systems Specialist I to join our team in Remington, IN. The Remington, IN Distribution Center provides Advance Auto Parts with opportunities to enhance service to our stores in the Midwest. It also helps us serve our stores better by shortening supply lines and saving valuable time and fuel. This DC has state-of-the-art material handling systems and equipment.

As a DC Systems Specialist I working 2nd shift, your responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:

  • Maintaining various computer systems in a large distribution center
  • Supporting business processes for a zero-downtime environment

We Are Looking For Individuals With The Following Qualifications:

  • Ability to work 2nd (second) shift; Sunday through Wednesday (four, 10-hour days)
  • Demonstrated technical expertise who will assume a hands-on support role for a large distribution center in a team setting
  • Able to respond to off-hour emergencies and perform weekend work as required
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results within measurable limits and clearly defined goals, including but not limited to monitoring and measuring daily processes, identifying improvements and cost saving opportunities
  • Have the ability to understand customer demands and needs, responding with urgency to equipment failure situations and provide collaborative solutions to warehouse managers
  • Must have the ability to present information and respond to questions from vendors, engineers and customers, which included excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Requirements

Required Technical and Professional Experience:

  • Experience troubleshooting problems (identifying probable cause with hard facts and data, investigate resolution and demonstrate success of solution),
  • Experience installing, maintaining and/or configuring PCs, network components, servers or peripheral devices such as printers, scanners etc.
  • Experience using MS Office Professional Series (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Must understand technology and understand (or be able to learn) operations of IBM and Windows systems; taking on the role of first level support for all computer systems

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:

  • Basic knowledge and/or understanding of inventory management processes (Inventory Receiving, Inventory Stocking, Inventory pulling, Shipping)
  • Operational and/or technical experience with Motorola / Zebra RF devices and label printers
  • Experience with distribution center systems such as Sortation systems, Warehouse Management Systems, or Warehouse Control Systems
  • Experience with warehouse powered equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, or pack mules

Required Education:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Technology (networking, systems administration etc.)

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will:

  • Be required to walk, often over long distances within the warehouse; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance from other team members.
  • On occasion, it might be necessary to need to climb ladders or use lifts to reach equipment.
  • Need specific vision abilities, such as close vision and color vision, which are required by this job

Work Environment:

  • This is 2nd (second) shift work
  • Work schedule is Sunday through Wednesday; start time is 5:00pm
  • Work 4 (four), 10 (ten) hour days
