As a Senior Program Manager, you will have the responsibility and authority to lead large, complex programs for the business
unit. Work is accomplished through matrixed employees/teams and/or suppliers who are not direct reports but for which the
incumbent has direct accountability to lead and achieve program objectives. The type of projects varies from process
transfer, business development, and process improvements.
A Day in the Life
- Responsible for the leadership of complex cross functional teams, including: initiating phase, assembling project teams,
developing project plans, and controlling project execution to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Utilize effective project management techniques to independently execute on project deliverables. This includes managing
scope, schedule, risk and budget.
- Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and
planning, project team, and line management.
- Manages the development and implementation process of a company's products and services involving departmental or cross-
functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products.
- Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and
objectives.
- Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line
managers, and clients.
- Participate in cross functional strategic and/or Annual Operating Planning (AOP) processes.
- Interfaces with all applicable external stakeholders for the project including end users and suppliers.
- Perform lessons learned on projects and make information available to other project teams.
- Conduct Project Phase Review in a professional and unbiased manner.
- Provide timely and accurate project status updates as required in the appropriate systems & templates.
- Often serves as a consultant to other project teams and a mentor to other Program Managers.
- Measure and assess the effectiveness and performance of project teams and provide input regarding the performance of
individuals on the teams.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with applicable procedures and policies.
- Spend time with our customers and sales force to gain knowledge about product application and to better understand customer
needs related to project/programs within their area of responsibility.
- All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.
- Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental
regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Travel requirement: 50-60%
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- 7+ years of formal project management experience with a Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of formal project management experience with an Advanced degree
- 5+ years of experience in a regulated industry (medical devices, pharmaceuticals)
Specialized Knowledge Required
- Complete understanding and application of Project Management principles, concepts, practices, and standards
- Full knowledge of industry standards: ISO13485, EN14971, EN62304
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly
- Ability to performance manage, coach, and develop others
- Ability to drive/lead in a matrix structure with persuasion and influence
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and across the organization
- Strong analytical skills with emphasis on financials and budgeting
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in an engineering discipline and/or MBA
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
