As the Leader of the management and store team, the Gordmans Store Manager has the responsibility over the operation and performance of the store. The Store Manager is a leader who exercises judgment and uses discretion to problem solve and make informed decisions. The Store Manager is responsible for leading all merchandising, operational, and human resource functions for an individual store in order to achieve planned sales and profits. Additionally, the Store Manager will protect the assets of the company including but not limited to the store associate team, the building and its contents.

II. GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

As the Leader of the management and store team, the Store Manager has the responsibility over the operation and performance of the store. The Store Manager is a leader who exercises judgment and uses discretion to problem solve and make informed decisions. The Store Manager is responsible for leading all merchandising, operational, and human resource functions for an individual store in order to achieve planned sales and profits. Additionally, the Store Manager will protect the assets of the company including but not limited to the store associate team, the building and its contents.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achieve planned sales and profitability by effectively merchandising the store, exceeding guest service expectations, recruiting and retaining top talent and expense management.
  • Manage the performance of the Co-Manager, Associate Manager and Associates using the Company standards and polices.
  • Store Manager is committed to providing a safe and secure work environment by compiling with company policies and procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.
  • Ensures Operational Excellence with freight process, merchandise placement, sales promotion activities and pricing of merchandise though scheduling, communication and coaching of associates.
  • Ensures that guests receive excellent service by providing knowledgeable, friendly associates who are responsive to guest needs, and are able to communicate profit driving company programs; i.e. Credit, Synapse and g-Rewards.
  • Coordinate merchandise placement, sales promotion activities and pricing of merchandise though communication and coaching of associates.
  • Ability to identify and communicate opportunities for increase sales and market share to District Leadership.
  • Encourages the growth and development current and future associates through effective training, communication, delegation, and role modeling behaviors.
  • Write and deliver annual performance appraisals.
  • Effectively manages payroll budgets and controls store operating expense using company provided tools.
  • Leads the annual physical inventory process.
  • Manages associate relations and delivers appropriate resolution; including corrective actions steps if necessary. Works to resolve associate issues timely with the partnership of the Human Resources and District Manager.
  • Ability to detect common signs of dishonest behaviors and safeguard company assets.

IV. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Proven track record of success in generating revenue in the retail industry.
  • Knowledge of business management principles including but not limited to Profit & Loss Statements analysis, Expense Control concepts, revenue growth concepts etc.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels in the company and with various business contacts outside of the company in an articulate, professional manner.
  • Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately with minimal direct supervision.
  • Knowledge and ability to motivate and lead others towards the accomplishment of store and company objectives. Included but not limited to motivation, planning, organizing, delegating, controlling, communicating and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to discern dishonest activity or dangerous behavior either by associates or guests.
  • Is knowledgeable & follows all Store Safety and Emergency procedures.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background screen.

V. REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18 years of age. Under the age of 21 requires approval.
  • Two-year college degree or equivalent retail management experience preferred.
  • Maintains confidentiality of store financial, sales and company information at all times.
  • 3 to 5 years of retail or guest service experience required.
  • Must provide open availability for scheduled work shifts as business needs dictate. (Including nights, weekends & Holidays).
  • Ability to grasp lift or otherwise move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and continuously perform essential job functions for up to a 10 hour shift.
  • Basic Mathematical skills, including addition and subtraction, necessary to verify payments and unit counts.
