Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Clinical Transformation Physician Consultant will conduct formal clinical and operational performance improvement engagements and consulting services for our clients. You will create strategies for clients engaging in improvement opportunities as identified by the Performance Matrix Platform, and other 3M analytic toolsets and methodologies, to achieve the identified benefits. Responsibilities include using change acceleration process tools and targeted/tailored physician to physician change management education to achieve our customers' goals and drive clinical and physician product adoption of identified solutions.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Perform tasks related to performance improvement management and associated activities from a clinical perspective such as:

  • Provide physician to physician education, training and engagement in accurate and specific provider documentation and clinical evaluation for healthcare clients
  • Provide training on clinical topics and provider documentation for clinical documentation improvements specialists and coding professionals as necessary;
  • Provide training for physician executives and client leadership;
  • Review patient medical records (electronic and/or paper) for healthcare clients onsite and/or remotely.
  • Perform or manage clinical evaluation and documentation tasks related to defining and measuring problems and undesired outcomes/metrics. This includes clinical analysis of data collected, physician representation in value stream and process mapping current state, stakeholder assessment, and other performance improvement activities.
  • Perform or manage physician/clinical provider tasks related to developing the future state goals to achieve the identified benefit and conduct analysis of the gap between current state and future state.
  • Utilize data analysis and performance improvement methods for assessing root causes, identifying issues with process, identifying stakeholder support needed, and gap identification.
  • Act as the physician/clinical subject matter expert on the delivery team to provide knowledge to the performance teams.
  • Collaborating with client clinical leadership, conduct improvement activities through engagement of teams, subject matter experts, stakeholders and benchmarking.
  • Facilitate performance improvement events for standard work, improved flow, waste reduction, error proofing, workplace organization and other objectives.
  • Analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing processes and develop sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable results. Research best practices within and outside the organization. Identify countermeasures needed to address root causes.
  • Rollout, implement and build sustainment/control plans for solutions. Build project approval and charters, work breakdown structures, schedules, dependencies, resource assignments. Track and analyze task completion, risk/issues, and mitigation strategies. Complete or manage appropriate report and dashboard documents and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Successful, data driven track record in redesign and/or implementation efforts in the areas of clinical performance improvement and/or clinical documentation improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with medical staff leaders, such as a physician advisors or the Chief Medical Officer
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change with client leadership and client physicians through tailored/targeted physician to physician education

Basic Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from accredited university
  • Minimum of five (5) combined years of medical practice in U.S. healthcare system including managing and/or treating patients in an acute care hospital setting
  • Ability to travel up to 75%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to maintain superior customer and employee relations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain a positive attitude in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work independently and produce excellent results.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in a physician advisor role (utilization review, CDI, QA)
  • Currently holds and/or has held state licensure to practice as a medical physician
  • Has experience documenting in electronic health record as a physician
  • Experience with physician documentation requirements to support coding initiatives, quality and outcome initiatives and public reporting

Location: Remote

Travel: May include up to 75% domestic

Relocation: Is not authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)
