We are looking for an experienced Engineering Tech Lead to help us drive our Mobile Engineering team to the next level of innovation and efficiency. We are the eBay Classifieds Global Mobile team, currently shipping category-winning iOS and Android apps to eight different countries with millions of monthly active users. This position, with direct support and in collaboration with other tech leads, is responsible for making direct contributions, leading and guiding the team to implement scalable technical solutions, enabling us to improve on time-to-market efficiencies in a quickly evolving environment. You bring a strong technical background and hands-on experience, guide a cross-platform team of mobile developers, and collaborate with an extensive set of other functions in a highly distributed environment. Responsibilities Provide strong technical leadership and guidance. Lead internal and external conversations to address current design constraints related to mobile client and back-end integration. Reduce cost of implementation and maintenance by identifying opportunities, leading architectural discussions, and leading the development of enhancements to support current stakeholder markets with disparate implementations. Drive the team towards constant technical, product design, architectural and innovation improvements. Identify opportunities and find solutions to scale mobile development and product delivery. Ensure high code quality, maintainability and scalability by evolving our architecture and tech stack. Constantly seek opportunities to improve both product delivery, testing and CI processes. Contribute to code reviews, refactoring, and improve build and test solutions and approaches. Supervise and monitor ongoing iOS and Android delivery. With direct support from management, provide leadership coaching and mentoring to team of cross-platform Engineers. Provide strong technical consultation and promote mobile-first solutions through collaboration with Product Owners, UX, other Team Leads and Engineers Provide the team with strong stakeholder management support. Participate in technical team-wide discussions in a senior capacity. Interface with Executive Leadership representing the Mobile Engineering team. Foster continuous knowledge transfer in the team and across teams Promote habits and practices that develop team cohesiveness. Inspire others with your passion for mobile development. Preferred Qualifications Strong experience leading teams delivering products across platforms. You share what you know and bring the team to a higher level of technical performance and cohesiveness. Excellent interpersonal skills. You must be comfortable in small and large groups. You have experience working with Senior Executive Leadership. Experience working with large distributed teams. Strong experience with both server-side development & API design. Reasonable experience with project and team management. Advanced understanding of design of distributed services and APIs. Extensive experience with agile development, product discovery and continuous delivery. Ability to identify, evaluate, employ and teach new technologies and concepts. Job Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent knowledge. 5+ years experience leading software engineering teams. Proven record improving mobile products through an elegant user experience. Proven record successfully building productive, strong, cohesive and innovative teams. Excellent communication skills. The Global Mobile Engineering team is distributed throughout the world, with the larger part of the team in Amsterdam, Shanghai and Portland.
