Summary

The Planner, Inventory Management is responsible for planning support for a given shop. This includes assisting in the development and preparation of merchandise pre-season financial plans, merchandise in-season financial forecasts, assortment plans, buy plans, open to buy reporting and ad hoc analysis to ensure that current merchandising initiatives and actions are consistent with and support the financial goals of the business.

Scope

  • Responsible for providing inventory management support and leadership to the category management process, while working with confidential information (sales, margins, inventory etc).
  • Supports the assortment planning process through the reporting and analysis of article performance, confirming whether the assortment fits within the merchandise plan and helping to list the assortment to the appropriate stores.
  • Assists in supporting the Buyer's fashion buying process through post-season analysis, price point reviews, buy plan preparation, inventory flow, and open-to-buy feasibility.
  • Assists in layout module performance and performs analysis to assist in making recommendations for assortment changes and/or site reprofiling. This includes analysis of article/site combinations to determine how to increase sales, GM$ and turn productivity and performance.
  • Assists in developing sales, margin, and inventory financial plans and forecasts as needed.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the Open to Buy and informing the Manager before limits are exceeded, using the forecasting process to ensure that OTB reflects proper purchase opportunities available to the Buyer.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree, specifically Major-Finance/Accounting, Marketing, Merchandising, Business, Statistics or Logistics (Merchandising, Statistics, Operations, Logistics).

Experience

  • Minimum: 2-4 years of experience in field or retail with a focus on merchandising, financial analysis, replenishment, forecasting, allocation, merchandise planning, store operations, and supply chain management.
  • Preferred: 6+ years of experience in field or retail with a focus on merchandising, financial analysis, replenishment, forecasting, allocation, merchandise planning, store operations, and supply chain management. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Other Skills

  • Experience with MS Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, experience with inventory management and merchandising and planning functions, knowledge of replenishment, forecasting and allocation fundamentals, functional experience with retail business systems, particularly SAP R/3 Retail, Business Warehouse, MS Office and Merchandise Planning (JDA/Enterprise Planning) systems. Team player with excellent communication skills, knowledge of retail industry, analytical skills and financial acumen, independent decision making, problem identification and resolution skills. Ability to execute initiatives and interact/balance priorities, results driven and sales focused, organized with an ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
