About this job

OBJECTIVE:

The Softlines Associate is responsible for processing donated textile items such as clothing, linens and towels.  The Softlines Associate will ensure that all items meet Goodwill’s quality standards, sorting the items according to department area, pricing and sizing the items and placing them onto the sales floor according to store standards. Working in both the production area and the sales floor, the Softlines Associate may also come in contact with customers and will need to provide excellent customer service displaying an “Attitude of Gratitude” in order to support the mission of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sort donated textile goods by item type, season and ensuring quality of product.
  • Make decisions on value of product and pricing it accordingly, researching value as necessary.
  • Hang, tag with size/price and prepare items for the sales floor.
  • Stock items on sales floor according to retail center policies and procedures.
  • Assist Customers with product questions while providing excellent customer service.
  • Ensure the production and sales floor areas are well organized, stocked, and clean to ensure store presentation and shop ability.
  • Rotating/Pulling old/unsold product from sales floor ensuring that our product selection is always new.
  • Help provide a safe working environment for you, customers and fellow employees.
  • Cross-train in other departments/areas and act as back-up for other areas as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Have a high attention to detail and ability to make decisions.
  • Able to withstand prolonged standing, bending and lifting up to 8 hours per day.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs, use a dolly and pallet jack as required.
  • Able to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff and peers.
