Summary

The Director of Retail Operations is primarily responsible for the effective performance management of all retail General Managers and Assistant Managers. The Director of Retail Operations ensures that all retail facilities are operating in accordance with company policies, as well as local and state regulations. Additionally, the Director of Retail Operations will provide oversight for all retail facilities, ensuring inventory levels are above set par levels and that all retail facilities are up to company marketing and design standards. Finally, the Director of Retail Operations will assist in owning and innovating the customer experience for their departments as they work closely with various business partners to deliver business results. Qualified candidates must have experience developing customer service experiences, developing/leading successful teams, a strong analytical and business background as well as a familiarity with technology and platform capabilities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Lead corporate retail team under the Chief Executive Officer, including Regional Retail Manager and Retail Operations Manager, in order to drive business excellence

  • Provide leadership in representing the company retail interests to stakeholders and partners to include marketing, cultivation, manufacturing, call center, purchasing, facilities, HR, Accounting, IT, etc.

  • Pursue the role of being a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and the Leadership team, including providing active, timely, and objective consultations

  • Create a talent pipeline in retail. This will include identifying and creating development opportunities for GMs, AGM, AMs, MITs, and Key Leads

  • Able to reference broad base of experience and best practices to create innovative and competitive solutions to meet headquarter retail goals

  • Ensure retail locations are providing extraordinary customer service, including understanding customer needs and feedback, in addition to making key retail decisions

  • Maintain a general awareness of cannabis and retail trends to create adaptive strategies

  • Must be able to create, maintain, analyze, and interpret a system of reports and KPIs for the retail division in addition to making long and short-term plans. This will include overseeing daily flow of orders and internal processes, inventory analysis, and forecasting

  • Promote open feedback from the operations team with other departments to ensure the integration of the retail strategy with the company's affiliate brands

  • Translate strategic goals into retail operational plans to achieve the required targeted growth in sales and profit; identify and optimize promotional opportunities, ensuring these are coordinated with the company's promotional campaigns

  • Ensure that the retail operation complies with all policies and procedures relating to security, health, and safety; influence any changes necessary to meet state and company regulatory standards, guaranteeing minimum risk to staff members and the business

  • Spend time in retail locations with retail teams, auditing teams, and patrons to understand and identify critical business issues; uphold the corporate identity of the company

  • Build a strong sales management culture with the operations team; coach managers, identify skills and opportunities for development

  • Provide advice and guidance in regard to management issues when needed, ensuring all issues are resolved and escalated through the appropriate Human Resources channels

  • Proactively manage/review the performance and progress of Retail Managers; set objectives and target; work with Retail Training Manager to develop individual training plans

  • Have a thorough, updated knowledge of all QSGs and Quick Connect materials, sharing with staff as applicable

  • Liaise with IT for all POC/POS issues

  • Participate in weekly General Manager/Assistant Manager conference call meetings

  • Forecast staffing needs, including budgeting overtime hours and relaying overhead costs to CEOs as the overtime POC

  • Cultivate an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards; promote integrity

  • Develop and implement strategies to retain a highly skilled workforce

  • Ensure cross-functional alignment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Effectively Manage Company Policy transitions

  • Identify new applications to assist with retail deficiencies

  • Develop analytical reports that drive new revenue sources

  • Partner with inter-company departments to develop effective informed working relationships

  • Responsible for sales revenue increases and developing programs that support increased sales volume

  • Capture challenges and opportunities as learnings and develop them into wins

  • Help uphold measuring tools to keep reports accountable

  • Sales Reporting and Forecasting to help drive company focuses and decision making

  • Model executive level communication at all levels of the organization with all communication mediums. This includes presentations, facilitating meetings, group communication, and interpersonal communication

  • All other tasks and job duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business field required

  • MBA or applicable Graduate Degree preferred

  • Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Florida Department of Health (DOH); Florida Department of Public Health and Environment (FDPHE), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Required Skills & Experience 

  • 7+ years of progressive retail and operations management

  • Excellent influential, collaborative, and relationship building skills

  • Demonstrated abilities in project management, strategic planning and multi-level team leadership

  • Excellent computer, mathematical, language and reasoning skills

  • High level attention to detail

Preferred Skills & Experience 

  • Ability to task prioritize with shifting workload in a fast-paced office environment and meet deadlines

  • Knowledge of Florida marijuana laws, DOH regulations, and FDPHE requirements; Previous marijuana industry experience preferred with priority given to candidates with experience in a State licensed facilities

  • Cannabis industry experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to individually lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for long periods of time
