A.	PURPOSE OF JOB

The Hardware Department Manager is responsible for providing quality and efficient customer service through the daily management of employees while assisting next level management with training, scheduling, and execution of day to day activities. 


B.	JOB DUTIES 
•	Assists with the management of employees in the store.
•	Assists in schedules staff to provide optimal service and meet operational and financial goals.
•	Ensures the staff is trained, motivated, presentable and punctual. 
•	Provides feedback to supervisor on employee actions.
•	Is knowledgeable of all department product lines or has extensive single product or trade comprehension. Can demonstrate and describe to customers how our products fit their needs. 
•	Communicates with department employees regarding merchandise promotions, events, and other necessary job information.
•	Confer with management personnel to plan facility renovations or additions.
•	Maintains the store departments in accordance with company standards.
•	Assist in the management of controllable expenses to ensure profitably 
•	Resolves customer complaints.
•	Assist in the hiring and recruiting process
•	Responsible for ensuring the store is recovered and ready for business every day
•	Ensure that open/close procedures are followed
•	Promotes Ace Rewards on the sales floor
•	Ensure that all daily inventory management tasks are completed:
o	Stocked
o	Zero outs
o	Special orders
o	Cycle counting
•	Make sure that the sales floor is clear, organized and properly signed, and that the receiving floor is clear of pallets and trash
•	Responsible for assisting in the training of all store associates on store policies and procedures      
•	Task execution as well as delegation of daily workload among associates
•	Enforces safety policies and procedures; is a safety role model
•	Other duties as assigned by the General Manager

C.	MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•	High School diploma or equivalent
•	Previous supervisory experience preferred
•	Previous retail experience preferred 

D.	KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
•	Strong verbal communication skills
•	Team working skills with the ability to lead 6 to 12 employees
•	Organizational skills
•	Positive energy
•	Planning and organization skills
•	General computer skills
•	Awareness of department product and product trends 
•	Exhibits professionalism in appearance and demeanor

E.	PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•	Minimum of 40 hour work week plus additional hours during peak seasons or as business necessitates
•	Lifting up to 40 lbs. 
•	Standing for long periods of time (8 hours or more)
•	Ability to climb stairs
•	Ability to stand for extended periods of time

F.	SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
•	Acts as manager on duty as business needs require
