About this job

Qualification:

  • 5 or more years of marine Ship Fitting work as a first class Ship Fitter
  • 5 or more years Nuclear or Power plant experience

Working Environment: Candidates will be installing new piping systems and repairing and replacing outdated and existing pipe systems onboard US Navy Aircraft carriers. Candidates will also be working with various piping systems to include: hot and cold water, potable water, air and gas, disposable waste, etc.

Required Skills:

  1. Tack Welding- Multi-pass (NAVSEA Technical Publication 39074-AQ-GIB-010/248)
  2. Burning-Oxygen/Propane Burning Torch.
  3. Heating-Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch
  4. Ability to comprehend complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches to include weld symbols, material types, datum and reference lines.
  5. Ability to comprehend fractional dimensions as with the use of a ruler.
  6. Ability to layoff piece parts for fabrication and assembly.
  7. Ability to assemble structural piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner.
  8. Experience working in a physically demanding environment (shipbuilding, steel fabrication, etc.).
  9. Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry.
  10. Use vibratory tools (grinders and needle guns).

Optional Skills:

  1. Rigger/Material Handling
  2. Optical instrument experience (Level, Transit)
  3. Shipwright / Erect & Set experience.
  4. Tank Testing
  5. Air Carbon Arc Gouging
  6. Mobile equipment operation (JLG, Scissor Lift, etc.)

Work Schedule:

All work will be performed on a Navy Vessel or a shop environment.

Candidates must be able to work any shift:

1st shift: 7AM-3:30PM

2nd shift: 3:30PM-11:00PM

3rd shift: 11PM-7AM

OT will be available but not guaranteed

Salary:

$21.36 -$30 hourly plus $108 per diem, must be outside of 50 mile radius
