Stationary Engineer/Central Plant Supervisor - Full-time

STATIONARY ENGINEER/CENTRAL PLANT SUPERVISOR Meridian Mall Okemos, MI The Stationary Engineer maintains and operates stationary chillers, boilers, and auxiliary equipment such as pumps, compressors, and air-conditioning equipment, to supply and maintain heating and cooling for light industrial buildings. Some of our benefits include: • Career advancement - Some of our managers started their career in this job! • Cell Phone and Other Discounts • Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay • Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, 401k Plan RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels, and activate valves to maintain required amounts of water in boilers to adjust supplies and quality of combustion air, and to control the flow of fuel into burners.  Test boiler water quality or arrange for testing and take necessary corrective action, such as adding chemicals to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits.Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts registering various aspects of boiler operation to ensure that boilers are operating properly.  Quickly and accurately detect and correct malfunctions and leaks.Collect data, maintain records, and provide comprehensive logbook entries of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work.Test and troubleshoot electrical systems to determine voltages, using voltage meters.Perform routine electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, architectural features/finishes and systems maintenance for the facility to the client's standards.Approach work with a “safety first” attitude.  Follow all safety practices, policies, and procedures.  Promote safe working conditions.   QUALIFICATIONS High school degree or equivalent.2+ years' experience operating a chiller/boiler system in a light industrial or larger commercial facility required.  Lifting requirements – 25-50lbs frequently/75-100lbs occasionally.Formal education and training in energy operations, equipment maintenance and repair, or instrumentation and controls, preferred.Solid basic mechanical and electrical maintenance/repair skills. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, material specifications, manufacturer's literature, operating procedures, and work instructions.Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.Successfully pass a criminal background check.
