ASSIGNED DUTIES: The position is for an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician who will be responsible for delivery of primary care to patients enrolled at the St. Cloud VA Health Care System. The provider will manage scheduled and unscheduled patients in the outpatient clinic setting.  Board certified or board eligible preferred.The primary care provider is an integral member of the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) teamlet, similar to a medical home team, and is expected to work closely and coordinate patient care with other PACT teamlet members including nursing, clerical, pharmacy, social worker, dietician, etc.  Primary care physicians will participate in daily huddles with other teamlet staff and participate in primary care systems redesign projects.A primary care provider in the outpatient setting is assigned a panel of patients to manage under Primary Care Management Model (PCMM) guidelines; recommended panel size at the division level is calculated based on patient complexity, support staff and room availability. Each provider's panel size is specific to their practice and setting. Primary Care Physicians may have responsibility for supervision of or collaboration with primary care mid-level providers.  Physicians are expected to provide clinical oversight and to participate in peer review of other primary care providers through periodic chart reviews.Primary care physicians will act as surrogates for absent primary care providers when needed, to include review of CPRS view alerts.Primary care physicians will regularly attend primary care staff meetings, departmental meetings and medical staff meetings.Typical work hours are Monday to Friday 8-4.30 PM, and a full time provider is required to work a minimum of 80 hours per pay period.  Duties may include evening and weekend working hours.Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) is necessary in all areas in accordance with facility policy. All administrative work should be completed in a timely fashion.All physicians will work within their privileges at all times and follow the Medical Bylaws.Conditions of EmploymentMust pass pre-employment examination.Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.Background and/or Security Investigation required.Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.Must be proficient in written and spoken English.Full, unrestricted license, certification, or registration required. QualificationsBasic Requirements: Citizenship of the United States.  Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.  The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.Proficiency in spoken and written English.Physical requirements outlined below.Board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice preferred. Preferred Experience: Citizen of the United States or a noncitizen who has been accorded permanent resident alien status in the United States; must have a degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted (2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted (3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory or Commonwealth Ii.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted license; full, active and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia; board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice preferred; must be proficient in spoken and written English.    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.    Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard.  This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.
