Payment Resolution and Write Off Analyst - FIN000865

The Payment Resolution and Write Off Analyst delivers sustained value in serving clients/customers by ensuring the accurate and timely processing and reconciliation of payments, while also researching specific issues appearing on customer accounts. This position performs all accounts receivables functions necessary to ensure accurate customer payment history. The Payment Resolution and Write Off Analyst also acts as the liaison between the company and its third party collection vendors to facilitate the efficient and rapid collection of delinquent customer accounts. Additionally, this position is responsible for handling all aspects of customer bankruptcies, ensuring that U.S. Cellular has complied with all legal requirements. This position is responsible for process improvements, reduce costs, tighten controls, and prevent revenue loss.

  • Ensure timely and accurate application and maintenance of all U.S Cellular payments and refunds. This includes Credit Balance Refunds, retail installments, credit card expirations, security deposits and review for customer collection treatments.
  • Assists with accounts receivable functions including: researching/resolving payment issues, and processing exceptions,
  • Partner with Retail Sales channel, Financial Services, Customer Services, Collection Agencies, Legal, Cash Accounting, Treasury and Financial Institutions to resolve payment/Lockbox issues, to achieve tighter controls and prevent revenue loss.
  • Work with collections agencies to perform monthly reconciliation's, resolve customer's complaints and disputes, approve customers proposed or agency's proposed settlement offers, provide information regarding validations of debt by reviewing for Direct payments, NSF's and bankruptcies. Also provides management with monthly reporting detailing the status of accounts placed with these vendors
  • Handle customer bankruptcies, ensuring that U.S. Cellular has complied with all legal requirements.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and presenting training, and departmental materials specific to individual job duties (to include process maps and documentation).
  • Work with the Fraud department to resolve potential and actual fraud issues.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and maintain data in several formats for metrics and SLA reporting.
  • Support cost-out and process improvement projects and initiatives when required.
  • Partner with the Treasury department to process wire transfers and ACH requests.
  • Perform daily Prepaid billing systems reconciliation to prevent revenue loss.
  • Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Accounts receivable experience a plus.
  • The candidate must be available to work a M-F shift between the hours of 7 am-6 pm
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Accuracy and speed in data entry required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work multiple projects simultaneously under required deadlines.
  • Positive, proactive approach to change, cost out and process improvement required.
  • Must have ingrained customer/client focus with an ability to adapt quickly to multiple changing priorities.
  • Strong skills required in the area of customer and client interface via phone and email, gathering info, analyzing needs, making decisions about appropriate solutions and educating clients/customers on those solutions.
  • Must be able to work effectively by oneself and in groups.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with all internal clients as well as external vendors/clients.
  • Must be analytical and problem solve.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma concepts a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs required.
  • Knowledge of TOPS billing system and AR Online system preferred.
