About this job

eBay Marketplaces is looking for a Sr. NoSQL DBA. This will be a significant contributor and teammate in driving technical vision and strategy for eBay's NoSQL data platforms supporting our marketplace and internal database needs.

You would have deep technical expertise working with NoSQL technologies. In this role you will be expected to lead initiatives at a technical level laying strategic direction for all NoSQL platforms.

Expectations:

You should have proven expertise in NoSQL databases including: MongoDB, Couchbase, Cassandra, Hadoop and In-memory caches.

In addition, you will have deep expertise in a Linux environment, hands on Scripting, Database and Systems Skills.

The professional we choose will have handled the full operational lifecycle of NoSQL databases including: sizing, technology selection, deployment, monitoring & decommissioning. In addition, will have conducted query performance tuning for at least one of MongoDB, Couchbase or Cassandra clusters, and has setup distributed database systems with varying degrees of consistency.

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in one of MongoDB, Couchbase or Cassandra.
  • Expertise in JSON document modeling.
  • BSCS and at least 8 years of related DBA work experience, in both SQL and No-SQL technologies.

Additional Areas:

  • You would be equally adept in traditional technologies such as: Oracle & MySQL.
  • We would prefer you are fluent in Bash, Perl and/or Python script development.
  • Knowledgeable in Open Source technologies such as: NoSQL, Kafka, Storm and the Hadoop ecosystem.
  • Expertise in Linux System performance tuning.
  • Expertise in Shell Scripting, preferably Python.
  • Authorization Management in Mongo, Couchbase and Cassandra databases.
  • Phenomenal analytical skills are a requirement.
