Job Scope

This AWS/Virtualization Engineer III will be part of a team that will be responsible for ensuring building out new Amazon Web Service components, National Service components and prevent outages to NextGen video backend applications (STVA). In addition, this individual will maintain our NextGen application infrastructure directly and support all applications on a 24x7 basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for programming, trouble resolution, operations and maintenance of systems; this includes builds, logs, service checks, scripting
  • Responsible for providing Tier 3 engineering support by creating ID's, encryptions, systems packaging, MAC lookups, and other responsibilities
  • Responsible for the creation and builds of systems upon the launch of new channels
  • Undertaking routine maintenance of assigned systems, including system patching/upgrades and compliance management along with outage calls for support

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education, and experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience within Systems Engineering
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with Cloud infrastructure technologies.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting Virtual Machines.

Additional Job Requirements

  • Experience working with UNIX and Linux operating systems; specifically troubleshooting and providing administration.
  • Experience with performing support and administrative tasks within Amazon Web Services (AWS), VM Ware, OpenStack, or other cloud infrastructure technologies.
  • Proficient in scripting and one or more programming languages (Python, Ruby, Perl, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Experience with Infrastructure provisioning tools such as Docker, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, CloudFormation.
  • Proficient in monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana).
  • Experience working with databases like SQL Server, MySQL, Cassandra, Oracle RAC or Hadoop.
  • Experience working with Splunk, AppDynamics, Nagios and other related technologies
  • Experience providing 'on call' support on a rotating basis to resolve system/application issues after normal business hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc)
  • Telecommunication industry experience
