FUNCTION:
The WISD Database Analyst ("Analyst") plays a major role in the strategic positioning of qualitative and quantitative information of the Firm's proprietary products and strategies via databases, DDQs, etc. in support of the Firm's growth initiatives to reach consultants, institutions, RIAs, broker-dealers, and family offices.
This position will be responsible for providing an advanced level of support to their unit (dept) working across several simultaneous projects/programs by developing new reports and dashboards, expanding on existing metrics, as well as presenting recommendations for data improvement. Represent unit (dept) in cross functional, high visibility projects involving business partners outside of the department. Responsible for streamlining ongoing activities
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Database Management
The Analyst will be responsible for populating, updating, and maintaining all quantitative and qualitative information for databases. Responsibilities include performing regularly scheduled data updates – performance, characteristics, and holdings along with Firm and product narratives.
Manage relationship between vendor and Firm.
Database Accuracy: The Analyst will regularly liaise with investment writers, portfolio specialists and investment professionals where appropriate. They will also work with product team, content managers, marketing, legal and compliance to ensure consistent information is communicated across databases.
Distribution Support: Collaborates with external distribution team to manage information requests from consultants, institutions, and financial intermediaries. This may involve direct contact with external prospects and clients. Included may be reports, research, or other materials to meet their needs and further deepen the relationship. Will liaise with external distribution team and may interact with prospects and clients directly to ensure that the inquiry is addressed in a professional/timely manner.
Requests for Proposals: The Analyst will work with the RFP team to respond to DDQs/RFP's/RFI's related to the consultants databases.
Proactively create and update generic DDQs: Interact with sales teams, relationship managers, investment advisors, product managers, performance team, subject matter experts, senior management to support AUM growth
Interact with legal & compliance to ensure full compliance with all related laws and regulations
Interact with marketing to ensure consistent messaging and brand delivery across WISD
Maintain ownership of all assigned projects
Ensure internal reporting is complete and accurate for deal flow
Utilize internal and external systems to research new business opportunities
May be involved in projects related to strategic initiatives of the Firm
Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite; design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis; identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
Complete other related duties as assigned

The WISD Database Analyst ("Analyst") plays a major role in support of AUM growth of the Firm's proprietary products and strategies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years related business line experience or in lieu of a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/or work experience.
High quality standards, meticulous attention to detail, ability to multi-task and strict adherence to deadlines
Experience with quantitative data
Knowledge of investments and portfolio management
Superior communication skills, both written and oral
Excellent negotiation skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Highly flexible and adaptive to change
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Self-starter with ability to recognize and implement new initiatives when needed
Experience interfacing with sales and client service professionals
Professional presence
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
A solid understanding of investment management products and services
Consultant database experience: eVestment, Wilshire, Callan, Mercer, etc.
Excellent verbal communication skills
Excellent project and time management skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with all levels of management
Ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment
Proposal writing experience
Financial services background
Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in software programs utilized by the department (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe plus any noted industry software)
Demonstrated ability to create presentations and other sales proposal materials that pointedly respond to identified client needs
