Job Description

The Principal Scientist, Global Nutrition Sciences, is required to provide nutrition science expertise and counsel to R&D and business partners to support every day delivery of innovation. In addition, the Principal Scientist will take responsibility for, and participate in, internal and external stakeholder engagement to drive license of operate and also support initiatives to drive PepsiCo's Performance with Purpose compliance and the ambition to have a more nutrition science savvy workforce.

  • Provide nutrition science expertise to R&D and business partners to deliver compelling nutrition focused solutions ensuring compliance with internal guardrails including Performance with Purpose for Technical Stage Gate projects
  • Provide nutrition science expertise in cross-category nutrition science teams/taskforces to inform, align and disseminate nutrition science based criteria, policy and guidance
  • Partner internally and externally to implement, monitor and raise awareness of portfolio transformation strategies to achieve Performance with Purpose goals
  • Develop and support new product concepts in partnership with marketing and support innovation workshop aligned with strategic imperative
  • Identify research opportunities and develop and execute research strategy and roadmap to meet short to long term snack R&D and business priorities
  • Help drive execution of long term research projects to support business objectives
  • Help drive external engagement with KOLs and influence to drive clear communication of our goals and research outcomes
  • Ensure evidence based communication on pack and in PR activity, liaising and aligning with relevant internal stakeholders such as regulatory and corporate comms

Qualifications/Requirements

  • M.Sc or Ph.D Degree in Nutrition Sciences or closely related discipline preferred
  • M.Sc plus 8 years professional work experience or Ph.D plus 5 plus years professional work experience in a similar role in nutrition, food or pharmaceutical industry. Expertise in translating nutrition science into compelling, clear communication; utilizing scientific expertise to identify opportunities and challenges in relation to product renovation and innovation; clinical trial design, development, and execution is desired
