The Packaging Technician position is responsible for packaging and loading products out of the facility.

  • Coordinate packaging schedule with distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with state/interstate/global regulations for shipping and loading.
  • Coordinate and schedule larger maintenance jobs on packaging equipment.
  • Operate all packaging equipment including bagger, supersacker, boxer and palletizer. Enter and reconcile production and inventory in SAP. Control packaging through the operation of various computer programs. Create and apply labeling in accordance with regulatory and quality standards. Make optimization decisions based on silo management, quality requirements and schedule demands. Collect finished product samples. Load liquid bulk trucks, totes and drums.
  • Troubleshoot, repair or plan maintenance for packaging equipment. Includes preventative maintenance, including adjustments to packaging equipment. Perform equipment lockouts and correctly issue work permits as needed.
  • Operate forklift, trailer jockey, inspect and load shipments. Unload/Load raw materials, packaging supplies and product. Ensure compliance with state/interstate/global regulations when deciding on load pattern based on type and length of trailer being loaded. Reprocess dry and liquid product as needed. Will also shuttle trailers, dispatch trucks/shipments, and wrap product.

Maintain and monitor physical and product inventory and order packaging supplies. Work with other warehouses to track inventory. Work with vendors or original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Interface with the Customer Relationship Tracking system (CRT), interact with customer service, coordinate packaging schedule with input from distribution and any other duties as assigned.

Required:

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
  • Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility.
  • Able to read/write English.
  • High School diploma or Equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling and pounding with hammer.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold.
  • Ability to work in elevated areas.
  • Must be able to operate machinery.
  • Must be able to operate heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts.

Preferred:

  • Forklift certified.
  • Able to perform physical job duties such as work in confined spaces.
  • Prior experience in production related work.
