Retail Sales Specialist

Aurora Mills Architectural Salvage is a unique company different from the many businesses in the recycling, reclaimed, and reuse field. Our mission is to provide the best in vintage and antique reclaimed/salvaged materials while strongly supporting historic preservation, sustainable building practices, and the creation of new markets for re-purposed and re-useable items. We scour the countryside hunting for unique items that may restore, define or enhance any decor, restoration, or re-invented space. Our clients include architects, commercial and residential designers, contractors, landscape designers, furniture makers, reuse creatives, as well as the residential home, loft or apartment owner.

We have a lot of exciting new projects in the planning stages and have been growing faster than we can keep up. New avenues of growth require we seek additional staff with the skills, motivation and expertise to join our already excellent staff and retail operation. Available Position: Retail Sales Specialist

We are looking to fill at least one full time position of, 32 to 40 hrs per week and a least one part time position of 16 to 25 hours per week. Both positions will require candidates to work at both the Aurora and the Portland locations.

Our highest priority is creating a positive, friendly, and helpful shopping experience for the Aurora Mills customer, whether the customer is visiting our web store, social media, our ecommerce sites or any of our physical bricks and mortar locations.

Customer service is our number one priority! Hardworking yet relaxed environment. We are dedicated to excellent customer service and very helpful and pleasant interactions with our customers.

Work Schedule:

The work schedule will include at least one weekend day a week with the possibility of both weekend days on occasion. A qualified candidate may also be expected to work before and or after holidays.

Pay:

The hourly wage for this position starts at $13.00 and may be higher based on the applicant's retail experience, knowledge or experience with architectural salvage, historic preservation, interior design, sustainable building practices, carpentry or historic building restoration. Paid sick time, vacation, and holidays are available.

Responsibilities and Duties

Primary Duties

-Dealing directly with customers in a courteous and helpful manner either by telephone, electronically or in person

-Ensuring customer satisfaction and good client relationships

-Maintaining a clean and pleasing shopping environment

-Assisting in cleaning and preparing inventory for sale, and/or shipping

-Merchandising inventory in an attractive manner

-Working with other members of the Aurora Mills team in a harmonious, friendly and efficient manner

Physical requirements/Work Environment:

-Must be able to lift items up to 40 lbs

-Maneuver effectively around sales floor, office and multi-level warehouse

-Must have the ability to work in a non-temperature controlled warehouse for short durations.

The successful retail sales specialist candidate will be responsible for maintaining our highest level of customer service and must have the following attributes and be willing to perform the following duties:

Attributes:

-Courteous, outgoing and with a positive demeanor-Strong organizational skills-Motivated self-starter (take initiative)

-Ability to work well with other employees (team player)

-Intellectual curiosity and the ability to quickly learn new things

-Ability to be patient and tactful when dealing with a wide variety of customers

-Neat appearance-Must be punctual and reliable

-Demonstrate a high level of reliability and integrity.

Basic Qualifications:

-Strong verbal, electronic and written communication skills

-Computer skills, i.e.,working knowledge of MS Word, and Excel. Experience with sending and receiving emails and with a variety social media interactions.

-Willingness and ability to learn Point of Sales retail sales system

-Experience with Photoshop a plus

-Basic math skills

Preferred Qualifications:

-Knowledge of, passion for, historic preservation, historic architecture, experience with general construction/restoration techniques, or sustainable building practices

-Knowledge or experience in interior design, landscape design with an emphasis on historic, vintage, or sustainable design.

-Experience merchandising store displays

-Experience using Lighspeed Retail or other POS systems

-Experience with the conservation, restoration, and design of antiques, vintage items, and other reusable objects.

-A diligent researcher, interested and adept at learning about an item’s history and use
