Pharmacist Clinical (Oncology focused) - All anthem site locations (PS13556)

Summary: Responsible for managing the selection and utilization of pharmaceuticals and supports core clinical programs such as DUR, DIS and formulary management.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Researches and synthesizes detailed clinical data related to pharmaceuticals
  • Critically evaluates high quality clinical evidence related to the efficacy, safety, and attributes of drugs, and biologics
  • Prepares and presents therapeutic class reviews and drug class reviews to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
  • Drug pipeline monitoring and evaluation support
  • Provides drug information support to internal stakeholders as needed
  • Provide clinical support for various internal clinical programs
  • Develops newsletters related to clinical efficacy, safety, and clinical impact for key internal stakeholders
  • Presents and collaborates with internal stakeholders (medical directors, pharmacists, nurses, business area leads, etc.)
  • Serves as a clinical resource to other pharmacists on areas such as prospective, inpatient and retrospective DURs and provides dosage conversion and clinical support for therapeutic interventions
  • Prepares clinical evidence information for network physicians
  • Daily workflow monitoring and prioritization
  • Collaboration with team pharmacists
  • Serves as a subject matter lead for select therapeutic classes
  • Provides Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee support for Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid, drug monograph development, critical evaluation of clinical trial data, and integrated pharmacy and medical analyses to determine which drugs will likely result in better clinical outcomes and improve the health of our members
  • Requires an active unrestricted license as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) in state of practice; minimum 2 years of managed care pharmacy (PBM) experience or residency in lieu of work experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background

  • PharmD required

  • Minimum 1 year of oncology training, skills or experience preferred

  • Travel up to 25% required

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in drug evaluation and synthesis or drug information residency preferred

  • Must have strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving skills, facilitation skills, and analytical skill
