Now is your opportunity to join our world-class security team at a premier client site with an immediate part-time opening across two shifts. These shifts run from 7am to 3pm and 3pm to 11pm; the days are Friday, Saturday and every other Sunday. We are looking for team members who want to grow as professionals and develop their safety and security skills.

We are hiring for security officers at one of Topeka’s top employers. This contract is a state-run facility with a historic reputation of providing excellence without compromise. Essential Functions
An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Log all employees, contractors and/or visitors in as necessary; verify authorization to be on property

Check doors on all buildings on property; will go into some offices as needed.

Take care of emergency crews when needed

Able to operate a computer effectively

Complies with company standards of integrity and ethics when implementing action plans; adhering to company and clients’ policies and procedures

Completing assignments following outlined policy and procedures; working with co-workers, supervisors and managers; identify priorities, communicate progress and information; determine and recommend ways to address improvement opportunities; adapt to and learn from change, difficulties and feedback

Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients; promote safe working environment by providing emergency responses during safety incidents; provide customer service with internal and external groups; report any feedback to Whelan

Qualifications

Physical Requirements
The following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.

Observes client property.

Moves up and down stairs.

Communicates effectively in person or by using telecommunication equipment.

Creates documents and reports using a writing instrument (such as a pen) or a computer.

Grasps, turns, and manipulates objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skill and hand-eye coordination.

Visually verifies information. Able to read information from short and long distances.

Visually inspects doors, locks, and other areas of client property.

Safely operate motor vehicle.

Travel

Travel is not required for this position

Work Environment
Working in the following environment is necessary to perform one or more of the essential functions of this position.

Moves over sloping, uneven surfaces such as a parking lot, building perimeter, docking bays, sections of the buildings which may have temporary cracks, or areas under construction.

Moves over slippery surfaces in work areas as well as areas that may become slippery during inclement weather.

Works in areas exposed to varying temperatures due to weather, such as extreme hot or cold, and/or wet, damp or drafty conditions.

Education

Entry Level Requirements
Minimum Qualifications

Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Must be fluent in English both speaking and written.

At least 18 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements.

Must be able to demonstrate a stable work history.

Must be able to pass an extensive background screening which includes, but is not limited to, criminal background checks (local, state and federal), drug test, aptitude tests, skills assessment, interviews, and personality profile (behavioral assessment).

Must be able to obtain a security license in the state, county or city in which the client is located.
