Summary
The mechanic position is responsible for conducting service work as needed for the trailer repair services provided by Apex Trailer Service (“We”). This includes repairing, fabricating, rebuilding, and replacing components as necessary. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. These include, but are not limited to, cleaning of shop areas, paperwork, training of new mechanics, etc.

We understand that most individuals are not proficient in all areas of trailer repair. As such, we are committed to providing opportunities for a mechanic to learn additional skills to further advance the mechanics knowledge and skill set.

Skill Summary
The following are considered general areas of skill for trailer repair services:

  • Welding (includes MIG, TIG, Stick, etc)
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Undercarriage work
  • Frame work
  • Body work
  • Insulation application
  • Industrial paint
  • Tanker (and related systems)
  • Electrical wiring
  • Framing and general construction

The above list is neither inclusive nor exhaustive, but serves as an example of the type of work that can be expected. Experience in any of the above areas are considered a positive addition when reviewing an candidate, though not required for a candidate.

Position Requirements
The following items are considered requirements for the position:

  • Excellent attendance

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds without assistance occasionally
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance occasionally
  • Ability to regularly lift or carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to stand, crouch, kneel, sit, or lay for extended periods of time
  • Basic tools (tool list provided upon request) provided by the mechanic
  • Read work orders and write time keeping and notes
  • Aptitude for mechanical work
  • Desire to perform physically demanding work with a dedication to detail
  • Pride in quality of work performed

Position Benefits

Schedule

  • 1st Shift work – Standard schedule for all mechanics is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • Standard work week of Monday through Friday
  • Occasional overtime (earlier start time or some weekend work)
  • Guaranteed 40 hours scheduled per week
