Specimen Accessioner

@Work Search Group is searching for a Specimen Accessioner to receive and process laboratory specimens to join a laboratory in the Lafayette, LA area. You will need to be able to assess requisition date, specimen adequacy and acceptability to ensure accurate order entry and high quality laboratory results.

Job Type: Full-Time

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior education or demonstrated knowledge in medical terminology also required.

Experience:

1 year laboratory experience or related experience in healthcare setting is required.

1 year experience includes specimen processing including esoteric reference lab specimen handling and packaging; phlebotomy; knowledge of laboratory tests and /or laboratory ordering processes; demonstrated proficiency with computers; data entry and keyboarding experience.

Other required qualifications for this position include good organizational skills that ensure accurate processing under adverse conditions; the ability to be detail oriented and to multi-task while maintaining a calm and effectual demeanor; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments; and the ability to adapt to new processes.

Salary: $18.00 to $20.00 /hour
