Rate of Pay$ 60,000-$70,000 *DOE
Job Summary:
The Medical Technologist provides advanced technical skills in performing various clinical laboratory tests and procedures and provide support in all areas of the laboratory to include Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, Microbiology, and Phlebotomy.
Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks: Will operate independently and with minimal supervision in a standalone laboratory within a larger healthcare facility or on its campus. Will perform, interpret and report routine and high-complexity laboratory test according to laboratory policy. Will perform and document routine maintenance of equipment and quality control of all reagents. Will maintain an appropriate level of inventory of laboratory supplies. Will communicate effectively with internal and external customers, providing assistance relating to laboratory policies, procedures and general laboratory matters. Follows all laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. treats all customers to include patients, co-workers, and employees from other departments in a cordial, respectful manner at all times. Prints and checks outstanding specimen reports, making sure they are accounted for and at the correct temperature. other duties as assigned Qualifications Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Standard office equipment including telephones, copiers, computers, and printers.
Standard and complex laboratory instruments.
Required Education / Experience:
ASCP Registered MLS, MT (ASCP),CLS(NCA), or equivalent.
B.S. Medical Technology, related science or equivalent.
1-3 years experience operating an automated clinical chemistry analyzer, immunoassay analyzer, or an integrated system.
1-3 years experience in Hematology.
Must be licensed as a CLS-Generalist by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
