Position Summary:
 

The Social Impact and Public Affairs team, located at Marriott International corporate headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, is responsible for global public policy advocacy, social responsibility, external stakeholder engagement and a portfolio of initiatives and partnerships which aim to connect our business with communities and governments to drive positive social outcomes and business value.

 

The Social Impact and Public Affairs team is part of the Global Communications and Public Affairs Department. This role reports to the Vice President, Social Impact and Public Affairs, providing limited administrative assistance, in addition to broader project and programmatic support for the Social Impact and Public Affairs team.

 
Expected Contributions:
 

The individual selected for this position will:

  • Provide support to the Vice President, Social Impact and Public Affairs, including planning and scheduling travel arrangements, reserving hotel accommodations, processing expense reports, scheduling meetings, developing and drafting presentations, agendas, memos, letters, spreadsheets, and other business documents.  Assist in other administrative duties on an as needed basis supporting the senior leaders of the Social Impact and Public Affairs team.  
  • Coordinate, schedule, and prepare the team for general meetings, including scheduling conference rooms, preparing reports or agenda items, prior distribution of materials, room set-up, audio visual equipment set-up, conference line initiation, and food and beverage arrangements.
  • Administer the corporate contributions program budget in coordination with Social Impact leaders. Evaluate, make recommendations, draft and manage communications for corporate contribution requests, including executive referrals.
  • Assist in aggregating contributions data, social impact and public affairs activities and visual assets in support of stakeholder requests and for inclusion in company surveys and reports.
  • Manage and respond to both internal and external requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Support program and project development, including on-line research, benchmarking, and development of communications resources like fact sheets, issue papers, educational tools and website content. Collaborate with team to support Marriott POV and other Social Impact and Public Affairs social media needs.
  • Manage Social Impact and Public Affairs inputs to Marriott Executive calendar sent weekly to communicators and other key stakeholders. Oversee inclusion of Social Impact and Public Affairs key events into master Corporate Calendar and collaborate with team to ensure event coverage and message development for such events.
 
 

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess the knowledge, skills, and experience as follows:

 
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in social impact, public policy, administrative, communications or related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including demonstrated expertise in Outlook (managing calendar), PowerPoint (visual presentations), and Excel (budget management).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; high degree of professionalism; polished presence.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through on tasks to completion.
  • Ability to work well under pressure; anticipate, set and adapt to continually changing workload priorities; and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and participate in the logistics and management of special events and volunteer projects.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and documents; flexibility for limited travel or overtime when needed.
