Admissions Booth -- This is the front line job for customer service at the center.  Friendly smile and personality is a must.  Responsible for taking admissions fees for commercial and non-commercial tours, and providing basic information on the center.  Employee must be able to work independently (frequently only one person staffs the admission booth), and able to handle a fast-paced environment.

EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE

Things can get wild at the AWCC!  The more you want to learn about the center and its animals the greater your experience can be.  From sharing knowledge with the customers in the retail store or admissions booth to meeting our wildlife up close and personal the sky's the limit when it comes to your experience at the center.  Some of the experiences you will discover this summer include watching belugas at the end of our property, amazing wildlife opportunities with our residents,  beautiful views on local hiking trails, and getting to know some really amazing folks.  Oh and tourists, there are a lot of them.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are a friendly and hardworking group of folks here.  There is a lot going on at the center during the busy summer days, so someone that is willing to pitch in as needed and able to think outside of the box is a must.  Customer service is a huge part of the experience here, and we need folks that love sharing knowledge with our guests.  We try to keep things fun but know that you're here to help promote the AWCC and our animals, and that is number one.

ROOM AND BOARD

There is limited housing available on property if the on-site housing is full the AWCC will help facilitate housing in the town of Girdwood, which is a 15-minute drive away.  A shared vehicle will be available for use getting to and from housing.  Housing costs are dependent on the facility you will be placed in.  Dry cabins which are cost-effective may also be available across the road from the AWCC.  The center does not rent these for employees but can get individuals in touch with the owners.

There is a grocery store located about 15 minutes from the AWCC.

Bringing your own transportation is highly recommended, as access to the company vehicles is limited.

EMPLOYEE PERKS

Ability to work four 10 hour days with three consecutive days off which give you plenty of time for hiking and exploring.  Field trips are set up throughout the summer, so you and your co-workers are able to get off the property and see more of Alaska.  You also receive 30% off merchandise in the gift store.

GETTING HERE AND GETTING AROUND

Employees that fly will arrive at the Anchorage International Airport where they will be picked up by an AWCC staff member and transported to the center. Employees that choose to drive will find us located only 45 minutes South of Anchorage on a well-paved highway.

Located in the heart of the Chugach National Forest there is an Alaskan adventure waiting at your door. Employees work four 10 hour days and have 3 consecutive days off, which gives ample time to explore the area or take a trip. The center is located only minutes from Prince William Sound--a renowned area for fishing, sea kayaking, and wildlife viewing.

We are only 45 minutes from Anchorage and 15 minutes from Girdwood, where more social activities are available. With only a 20 minute drive you can bike, hike, and backpack some of the best trails in Southcentral Alaska.
